Show Manny the Money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The eight-year, $160 million contract that Ramirez, who will turn 35 on May 30, signed with the Red Sox as a free agent before the 2001 season contains two option years (2009 and ’10) worth $20 million apiece. Ramirez also has the right to veto any potential trades.

^^

This is all you need to read from the link. Manny wants the club to pick up the two option years at 20 million per. Dude will most definitely be on the "back nine" by the time 2009 rolls around. Does this jackass really think the Sux will pay him 40 million for two years he's 37 years old? The tried outright releasing this douchebag 3 years ago and have tried trading him every season since.

He knows no one is gonna to pay an over the hill slugger 20 million per... so now he wants to retire a Sux?

Did I mention... :meds:

Yet Red Sox fans want Clemens? He's just as much drama as Manny is. I want Clemens on the Stros, but gad damned if I'm not tired of his year in and year out drama about whether or not he's going to play This year was the worst of all when he flat out said he'll come back if players call him and want him to. Heard on the radio this week that Astros and Red Sox players had been calling him right and left begging him to play for them. Yankees hadn't made a call and felt they might not be "recruiting" hard enough so Jeter calls him.

Pathetic drama queen...just like Brett Favruh.

Not sure why 'Stros players are calling him. He's in camp helping the rooks and his son. They should just pass him a note and have him check yes or no. Much easier, plus Sprint SUX I AM OUT!

It's not about the drama, Indy. Clemens may be the best pitcher of all-time and I'm sure he revels in his superstar status. For all his ego, I don't think anyone's ever questioned his effort.

You can't say that about Manny. He plays when he wants to play. Trot Nixon got hurt a few years ago (shocker, I know) the day before Manny had a "scheduled day off" per Francona. The next day, the skipper asks Manny if he could play because they're now down an outfielder and Manny refused because he was promised the day off. Manny doesn't run out grounders hard down the line. Manny doesn't hustle after balls in the outfield. There's a boatload of other questionable incidents I can reference.

The clincher is last year::: in the middle of an August pennant race, Manny refused to play because Red Sox management would NOT petition the league to have him credited with a hit on a play that was ruled an error. He got pissed because he thought the official scorer fucked him out of a hit and he didn't play the rest of the season. Manny will tell you that he had some mysterious knee injury that he was hiding from the team for months. It just so happened that he revealed his injury the day after he was "screwed out of a hit." He played all 9 innings that day, looked very healthy, and didn't appear to injure himself.

Manny Ramirez is a fucking crybaby pussy. I don't care how great he is... I'd never want him on my team. To put this into proper perspective, I dislike him more than I do Barroid Bonds. I hope he dies of AIDS and rots in Hell for all eternity.

I questioned his effort for his last 4 years in Boston........

Here's a serious question for you then...

Would you want a guy on your team who busts ass on every play and bats .265, 5 HR, 65 RBI or a guy like Manny who slacks off but still puts up MVP numbers?

I'd take the asshole every day.

And he was hurt for most of those years. However... his last year there (1996), he pitched 242 innings and had a 3.63 ERA. No Red Sox pitcher has thrown for more innings since. Granted, I am sure he was pitching for a contract. However... you can't question his last year there. No fucking way.

Manny quit on his team... that's the point, dude. People would "put up with him" for 40 HR and 130 RBI. He didn't do that last year... he only had 100 RBI and only played in 130 games. He pulled up lame with a mysterious injury right in the middle of an August pennant race. Of course you'd take the asshole, if he's actually out there producing.

ucant,

I see what you're saying. However, your team got their ring. I'd put up with 10 years of his shit to get one ring. You can't say the Sox "tradition" of WS Rings outweighs dealing with a primadonna.

Sin,
Ringless Stros Fan

Get it?

It's okay to quit on your team two years after being the World Series MVP.

Sin,
Losers who haven't won shit... ever.

It's NEVER okay to quit on your team. EVER. I don't care if you won 10 championships in a row. If you quit in year 11 because your front office didn't try hard enought to get a play changed to a hit, then you don't belong on my team. It's not about being a prima donna, it's about giving up. There's a difference between not running out a ground ball and taking the rest of the year off because you're a fucking crybaby.
IndyFrisco wrote:However, your team got their ring.
Yes, they did. Last year. And no one gave them a chance in Hell of winning. I'll take 9 David Ecksteins (also a WS MVP) over 9 Man-Rams any day of the week...
