Round 1 Friday Thread
Although the IU/Gonzaga game will technically still be taking place on Friday, please reserve all your comments about that game to the Thursday thread. ;)

"Our staff is going to ensure that anyone who attends this University and wears the Indiana uniform will make this privilege among their highest priorities and not treat the opportunity as an entitlement,'' Crean said in a statement. "We fully expect our student-athletes to accept the responsibilities academically, athletically and socially that come with representing one of the top programs in college basketball history."

Speaking of IU and your comments in the Thursday thread, I'm loving that most of the "experts" aren't giving ND much chance of beating Winthrop in the first round.
Fwiw, ND is 3-0 in the first round of the NCAA tourney under Brey. It's been getting there in the first place that has been the bigger problem.

people pick way too many upsets, and get all enamored with the Winthrops of the world.
there will always be upsets but the whole "Cinderella" thing is mostly media hype to sell the tournament to the casual sport fan.
i used to play in a pick'em bracket in a buddy's group and two years in a row i picked a dummy bracket with the better seed in every game.....i finished 4th and 4th and won money both years.

So what, LSU beat the fuckpiss out of ATM and look where they each ended up. That's a game that can truly go either way and I won't be shocked if the final margin is less than 5 either way. FWIW I ended up taking the Irish and the shoulda-been-a-Hoosier-but Mike Davis blows baboon cock-Luke Harangody.

In general, I agree, but there are some pools (like the one I'm in) that award "extra" points for the difference in seeding...so if you can effectively pick a 12 over a 5, that's a pretty nice edge there.King Crimson wrote:people pick way too many upsets, and get all enamored with the Winthrops of the world.

So which is it, a pretty nice chunk of points or a pretty nice edge?? ;)

Wiscy better wake up, they are digging a hole against A&M-CC.

Oh shit, Winthrop only up 4 now...
If it comes down to free throws, ND will win.

since they switched back to the Winthrop-Irish game, ND is unconscious from the floor. but are racking up the fouls.....and W is not having much trouble breaking the ND press.

Winthrop rights the ship a little, what a great game....

not sure about that blocking foul.....ND might taken one in the shorts there.

Wisconsin scoring at will inside but ATM-CC still with the lead.

I almost passed out at my desk when I first checked in on that Wisky score at 25-10 or something like that. Thank God they won otherwise I would have kicked somebody's dog.
