Sorry for the loss but after going through a similar situation..

You should not let someone drive under that severe of emotional stress.

I gave the news of a family members death to one of my sisters and you are damned strait I let her get to my house before I uttered a word, losing one is bad enough. However I know when those situations occur the best judement is overtaken by emotoin.

Sad story.
