This state is as secular as they come, but, the liquor store owner mafia has deep ties that don't die easy. In CT, you may buy booze until 9 PM and not at all on sunday. That's right 9 fukking PM and zilch on sunday. Not even 3.2 watered down piss. And, you can't get it at a store with gas pumps, which pretty much takes all the convenience stores out of the game. You can get beer at grocery stores, but, wine and hard stuff only at packies. That's CT for liquor store, btw. I used that term on a buddy of mine from dcali while I was in the navy and he looked at me like I had 3 heads.
Back in the day....

Before MA lifted their Sunday ban, my buddies and I made many a Sunday trip from northern CT, up I-91, to the Vermont border to buy booze. Ugh....

When I lived in Texas, I once had a grocery card full of food. I also had a 12 pack of beer. When I checked out, it was 11:45. The cashier said I had to wait 15 minutes to purchase the ber. I just left all that food, much of it perishable, in the cart and said I was going elsewhere to shop.

Always hated that fucking law. Here in Indiana though, can't buy anything on sundays. Of course, I never need to. the house is always fully stocked.

When you say "can't buy anything," does this include bars, or just brown bag stores and beer stores?

-State Liquor stores are the only places you can buy wine or liquor.
-there are about 5 stores across the state that are open on Sundays, 12-5. I happen to live near one of them. This is a very recent development.
-Beer: 6 packs in bars, cases in distributors. No beer in grocery stores or convenience stores (Sheetz is trying to change that).

If they tried to stop selling beer and wine in grocery stores and Sevvies, I'm pretty sure you'd see legislators swinging from trees.

In my part of Pittsburgh, within the past few years they've opened both a Whole Foods and a Trader Joe's. Neither one sells beer or wine or any other alcohol. :brad:

Does not include bars. At bars, you can buy anything you want.

Anyhow, like I said, I keep a fully stocked house. I always have at least 6-10 cases of beer in the basement, a full bar and about 250 bottles of wine. If Jericho really happened, I'd be set for awhile.

They should rename that store Traders of Semen.

But 'round these parts, they're as much of a discount wine store as they are a grocery store.

I remember the look of utter shock on the faces of some visitors we had from Massachusetts when, as we were knocking back beers in a local bar, some college kids came in and bought a keg. Apparently, you can't (or at least you couldn't) just stroll into a bar in Mass. and buy a 1/2 keg for a party.

Cripes, in NY, college students consider that an inalienable right.

The issue is not folks being so 'desperate' for beer that they can't wait 'til noon on Sunday.

The issue is that idiotic descendents of Carrie Nation have no right to impose their tightass religious crap on us through legislation.
Why do you hate America?

America was founded by christians and you should just shut up if you don't like living in a christian country.
