"Operation Imposing Law"

Post by PSUFAN »

Are you fucking kidding me?

All pretense has been dropped, I guess...we're engaged in a police action in Iraq.

Is it a proper use of our military to act as cops all over the world?

We aren't using our military as cops "all over the world."
Only just this once, right?

Weren't you one of the ones bitching that the troops weren't policing Iraq after the fall of Saddam's government, PUSFAN?

I seem to recall you doing exactly that

You're quite right to point this out - the Bush team has reversed their earlier policy. After they broke it, they didn't want to pay for it...but now they're being forced to, at least until Rove can pin it on the Dems.

http://www.prisonplanet.com/us_push_for ... force.html
The United States would train and lead an international police force, bypassing traditional peacekeeping bodies such as the United Nations and NATO, under a proposal by the Defense Secretary, Donald Rumsfeld.

The plan, involving thousands of Americans permanently assigned to peacekeeping, would also be a major reversal by the Bush Administration, which has strongly opposed tying up its troops in such operations.

"I am interested in the idea of our leading, or contributing to in some way, a cadre of people in the world who would like to participate in peacekeeping or peacemaking," Mr Rumsfeld told defense industry leaders in Washington last week.

"I think that it would be a good thing if our country provided some leadership for training of other countries' citizens who would like to participate in peacekeeping ... so that we have a ready cadre of people who are trained and equipped and organised and have communications that they can work with each other."
Thank God they fired that guy, then...

http://www.reuters.com/article/topNews/ ... geNumber=1

The Bush Administration is utterly directionless on Iraq, and people are reluctant to step in and take the blame:
Retired Marine Gen. John "Jack" Sheehan, a former top NATO commander, was among those who rejected the job, the newspaper reported.

"The very fundamental issue is, they don't know where the hell they're going," Sheehan told the Post.

Sheehan said he believes that Vice President Dick Cheney and his hawkish allies remain more powerful within the administration than pragmatists looking for a way out of Iraq, the Post reported.

"So rather than go over there, develop an ulcer and eventually leave, I said, 'No, thanks,' " Sheehan told the paper.

They want a "war czar"?

What the fuck is the JCS Chairman's job?

What the fuck is SECDEF's job?

What the fuck is POTUS's job?

OK, I'm convinced: The top priority, as of this minute, of congressional republicans should be to impeach Chimpy right fucking now for being an incompetent, clueless, braindead fuck

Chimpy is making a serious run at Jimmah for Worst President of Anything, Anywhere.

He'll never get around the problem of Jimmah doing all his damage in just one term, though

Yeah, you have to put thing in perspective, though.

Peanut pretty much had no chance for anything resembling success from the get-go. He inhereted a financial disaster, a country sharply divided, and the dawn of what was becoming a whole new social era.

W came into the post-9/11 national unity, a feeling of unity maybe not seen since WW2.

And boy, did he fuck it up.

Kind of an apples/oranges comparison. They both sucked, but in completely different and unique ways.

I want Dumbya to appoint a "war czar" just so we can all hear him mangle the pronunciation of the phrase...over and over again.

I don't expect perfection out of my President, but a functional grasp of his native tongue would be nice.
