Draft history ranking by school
kinda interesting. FWIW. the NFL is something i watch when i want to hang with some of my Donkey buddies. but, sort of interesting.
i didn't think Oklahoma would rank that high given that 20 years of their best "skill" and OL players were wishbone/option oriented. but, i guess the "League" needs pulling guard who can knock a downfield LB on his ass after all.

I've always been amazed at how many OL came out of Nebraska's run-oriented offense and went on to perform well in the NFL.King Crimson wrote:kinda interesting. FWIW. the NFL is something i watch when i want to hang with some of my Donkey buddies. but, sort of interesting.

kinda surprised Bama is so low.
and on the FSU issue. do the numbers, while FSU is a factory....they would need to have averaged about 7 per year they weren't playing D-1 ball to make the top 5. just goes to show (nothing against FSU) what the consistent quality of the top programs over teh last 50 years.

In fairness on this point, the NFL draft has been shortened dramatically over the years. At one point within the time that I was conscious of these sorts of things, the NFL draft was 18 rounds long. Expansion and supplemental draft picks have mitigated the effects of shortening of the draft somewhat, but there were still a lot more players drafted in the 1970's than there are today.King Crimson wrote:kinda surprised Bama is so low.

that's a good point TinC. taken.

If FSU averaged 3 a season for 14 years or just 2. that would be 42 or 28 more guys. hell just give FSU 1 guy for that 14 year span so we are not tied with iowaTerry in Crapchester wrote:In fairness on this point, the NFL draft has been shortened dramatically over the years. I'm kinda surprised my 'skers were so high considering for a long-time they depended on overachievers that redshirted and got built-up in what used to be the premiere S&C program in the country. Plus for many of the years we were an option-oriented team which means our qb's, wr's, and even a fair amount of O-linemen(we tended to have shorter guys with quick feet that could pull) that weren't pro-types.
But hey, being ranked that high is something to mention to a recruit so it is all-good.
