DVD zone issue

Post by Sky »

I have some DVDs from England that play just fine on my coputer but they are zone 2 (I think) and won't play on my DVD player. Anyone know if there is a mod I can make. I did a little research on the net but nothing fruitful.

Here's a good resource on the issue:

You may be able to remove the region-checking for your player. If not, you can rip and reburn without the Region "protection".

You have many different options but probably the cheapest and easiest one is to get on Ebay and get a region free DVD Player. There are a bunch of them on there and they are fairly cheap.

Certainly copying DVDs on your computer is an option but it takes time to do it and a little know how. Also be careful about playing other regions on your computer because windows only allows five or six region changes and then you are stuck with the last region so if you change from 1 to 2 and finish with 2 at the end of your 5 max region changes, then from then on you will not be able to watch American (Region 1) DVDs on there.

Yeah. Its been a while since I've used it but back in the day I remember that once you had a movie ripped, you could burn it region free.

Also a lot of cheap walmart dvd players play everything.

Some good software, currently at 39.95 is Image DVD IdlePro from Fangtao Software. You can download a trial version on their site.
