Seriously? Around these parts he would. The uninsured regularly show up in our emergency rooms with issues that would otherwise be taken care of with an office visit. I don't believe the hospitals have the option of refusing care in anything remotely approaching an emergency. I'm sure that has nothing to do with skyrocketing costs.

An average of nearly 5 Emergency / critical care hospitals and clinics in california close every year because of the extremely high level of indigent/no insurance/illegal immigrant patients with no money they were being forced to treat by law, and getting zero compensation for.

Add to that the penalties for violating the nurse to patient ratios, and they can't stay in business.

So instead of bleeding cash or facing fines, they shut their doors.

over 70 hospitals have closed here since 1990.

The biggest problem are the illegals. they flood the clinics and hospitals and have no money to pay, but the fucking law says treat and don't report em.

That's what happens when you put mexicans in charge with positions of political power. The legal taxpayer gets screwed over big time.

Set up a few dozen MASH Units in so cal, and bus the fuckers right out of the country after they are well enough to travel. Send a Father mulcahy to bless those social termites before they hit the road.

Anywho, the mentally ill end up in the brutal circle of not being able to afford meds without having a job/insurance. And not being able to get a job/insurance without getting on the meds. Even once you're on the meds, they can make you space out for months before your system gets used to them and what homeless person can afford $700+ per month for one month let alone several?

Depression runs on my Mom's side of the family, because for whatever reason their (my) brain's don't regulate seratonin, norepinephrine and dopamine levels on their own. That's not that big of a deal most of the time, as it just needs a nudge in the right direction.

As for the schizophrenia, I know that if a parent has it (neither of mine do) your kids have a 20% chance of getting it. Unfortunately, I learned this AFTER having my son or I would never have had kids in the first place. Less putting someone else through this shitstorm if I have a choice.

But it is genetic, and the one thing that I do know about my old man's side of the family is that they tend to have "quick minds", which is my main symptom. My brain moves too quickly from one thought to another, so I end up forgetting all kinds of stuff right after I hear it. Ever wonder why I fuck up the HDC almost every week? There you go... So the "quick mind" is a blessing and a curse. I've learned to work around it by getting a voice recorder for long conversations at work(I carry it in my pocket) and I write EVERYTHING down.

So to answer your question, maybe it runs in my father's family in a mild form and I just hit the crazy lottery and got the hammer dropped on me. I know he had a cousin that went crazy and offed himself (but I don't know what flavor of crazy he had) and another that OD'd (brother of that same cousin) that I guess could have been related to self-medication, but I never knew either of those people so I can't say.

How's about lining them up along the border, first line can go hand to hand with the messicans. Most of them would be beat down by the messicans. Second line would have the garbage can lids, extension cords, car antennas. They ought to fare slightly better as the messicans would be tiring a bit from the first wave. Third line would be the moped light infantry. I doubt they'd accomplish much, but would provide some good action footage from the blimps overhead filming the entire thing for pay per view.

Anything making it past this bunch would be cut down by real ground/air forces. This would provide decent training for our guys headed to Iraq/Afghanistan.
