Too bad you have no fucking idea what you're talking about.
What the fuck does the salary cap have to do with their rings? Oh, because of all the big name free agents they brought in? How they overpaid to keep their core together?
The Cowboys added only a few non-drafted cogs to their super bowl teams. 1 was the trade (see that word, trade?) for Charles Haley (draft picks), the acquisition of Jay Novacek in 1990, and Deion Sanders 1995 (post Salary Cap).
Here some highlights of the Cowboys draft during that period.
1988
1 11 Michael Irvin WR 03/05/1966 Miami
2 41 Ken Norton LB 09/29/1966 UCLA
1989
1 1 Troy Aikman QB 11/21/1966 UCLA
2 39 Daryl Johnston RB 02/10/1966 Syracuse
3 57 Mark Stepnoski C 01/20/1967 Pittsburgh
4 85 Tony Tolbert DE 12/29/1967 Texas-El Paso
1990
1 17 Emmitt Smith RB 05/15/1969 Florida
2 26 Alexander Wright WR 07/19/1967 Auburn
3 64 Jimmie Jones DE 01/09/1966 Miami
9 221 Kenneth Gant DB 04/18/1967 Albany State
1991
1 1 Russell Maryland DT 03/22/1969 Miami
1 12 Alvin Harper WR 07/06/1968 Tennessee
2 37 Dixon Edwards LB 03/25/1968 Michigan State
3 70 Erik Williams OT 09/07/1968 Central State
7 173 Leon Lett DT 10/12/1968 Emporia State
12 320 Larry Brown DB 11/30/1969 Texas Christian
1992
1 17 Kevin Smith DB 04/07/1970 Texas A&M
1 24 Robert Jones LB 09/27/1969 East Carolina
2 36 Jimmy Smith WR 02/09/1969 Jackson State
2 37 Darren Woodson DB 04/25/1969 Arizona State
1993
2 46 Kevin Williams WR 01/25/1971 Miami
2 54 Darrin Smith LB 04/15/1970 Miami
7 196 Brock Marion DB 06/11/1970 Nevada
1994
2 46 Larry Allen OG 11/27/1971 Sonoma State
That's the core of 3 superbowl teams, right there.
Not done with Free agency, or big stakes contracts.
Now, if you want to discuss what happened after 1995, I'll gladly accept salary cap as part of the equation. Poor draft choices. Free agent busts. Aging players. Poor coaching choices. All part of the puzzle, and by no means did Jerry handle it very well. But Jimmy Johnson and Jerry Jones raped Minnesota, used those draft choices VERY well, and made a few additions to the puzzle. But don't act like the lack of free agency is what allowed that team to be put together. It did help kill it, but that's again, a different story.

Micheal Irving was signed to a three year deal, how much did Jerruh pay to keep him after those three years? Ditto with Troy and Norton....Headhunter wrote:Too bad you have no fucking idea what you're talking about.

They did draft well and they paid out of the wazoo to keep them after they had the ability to become FAs.
