I really like this band from England. Their last release, "Once Like a Spark", was like Fugazi mixed with Emo lyrics as they'd one minute be raging and then they'd switch to soothing vocals. I liked it a lot.
Now they're coming out with a follow up CD called "Backlash Cop". In a puzzling, head scratching move, they've kind of ditched the emo leanings and gone for rap sound. Picture a mixture of Fugazi, 311 and Rage Against the Machine. As weird as it sounds, it works for some reason. Clocking in at 36 minutes, they manage to name drop Dizzy Gillespie, Miles Davis, Jimi Hendrix, Les Savy Fav, Charlie Parker, Marvin Hagler, Sugar Ray Leonard and a slew of other icons.
I like weird, off beat stuff, so here's a link to listen to the CD online. I'll be buying it as soon as they release.
