Zip-Lock bags are out of control

Post by Rootbeer »

It seems like just a year or two ago someone came up with the idea to make a bag of *whatever* open with a perforated edge and reclose with a zip-lock type zipper. It was absolutely genius and I'm sure it made somebody really rich which is nice for them. I buy cold cereal with the zipper thingy, Tyson chicken, crackers, marshmallows, sliced cheese, grated cheese, block cheese, pepperoni, hot dogs, tortillas, bratwurst, grapes, etc. It's all rainbows and smiley faces unless my kids open the fargin' packages. They don't seem to grasp the concept. Or maybe they're just blinded by the sugar frosted cocoa nuggets and don't care how the bag gets opened as long as it's fast and the hole is big enough for five hands. The built-in ziplock zipper was nails in my book even though my kids sometimes circumvent it. I appreciate the packaging company for their thoughtfulness. However, I think the trend is getting out of control.

I bought a package of socks recently that had a ziplock zipper built into the bag. What the heck is that about? Who is buying a package of socks, removing individual pairs, and resealing the bag? It didn't even have a perforated edge above the zipper to pull off. I had to open it with a carpet knife. -You sissies would probably use a pair of scissors. I used a razor blade cuz I'm hard like that.- There's twelve pair of socks in this bag. It's so big it has a reinforced handle. The only people I could see using a zipper on the bag is maybe a traveler who forgot their socks but in that case who needs twelve pair and don't they already have luggage? Is this trendiness for the sake of trendiness and how trendy is a frickin' plastic zipper? It's just stupid that's what it is.
Ain't nothin' like the real thing, baby.

modern technology at its finest !!
did you ever try to get a product out of those
plastic "theft-proof" packages that you need a chain saw
to open and remove what you bought ??

mvscal makes a good point. If all bags had a safety hatch no kids or negroes would suffocate.
