Holy shit! As a relative n00b to this board with no personal feelings toward any of you and with a completely unbiased opinion, some of you people are just plain fucking dumb.

There's no way to dress it up with smack. D-U-M-B.

That's it. Plain and simple, DUMB.

LT is not a HOFer if he never takes another snap. The dude will probably wind up as a first ballot HOFer because there is nothing to indicate that he won't continue to rack up numbers for a few more years. If he keeps it up at this pace, it may only take two more years for him to be a lock.

The only two "locks" on that list are Marvin Harrison and Curtis Martin. Those players could retire today and both would probably be first ballot.

All the players on the list could potentially be HOFers, but that would require them to continue playing at the level in which we have become accustomed to seeing. In the NFL, there is no guarentee that these guys will make it past week 1.

LC Greenwood Tomlinson.

Same guy as Mean Joe Tomlinson.

Same guy as Too Tall Tomlinson.

Same guy as Lawrence Taylor Tomlinson.

Not to be confused with Shawn The Juice Merriman, the Dancing Machine.

Why were they not?
How many "routine pro-bowlers" does Denver's offensive line produce?

They must suck too, right?
Tom Nalen was Denver's only 'routine' pro-bowler over the past 10 yrs.
So yes, on the surface it seems you have a point.
But if you look at Denver over the past ten yrs compared to Buffalo of the early/mid '70s, it's entirely different.

Denver has had a terrific o-line 'system' in place, and they have excellent overall offensive coaching.
So they've plugged in 'lunch-pail' O-linemen and RB's, and they've had success.
All Buffalo had was ........ hand it to O.J.

LINK?

I am still waiting on any asshole to step forward and show me a player who's amassed more rush/rec yds and more TDs than LC over any six year period. Apples (regular season) to oranges (reg+post) comparisons can go fuck themselves.

You fuckers all know that official NFL records like Marino's 420 TD passes and Emitt's 18,355 yds DO NOT include post season numbers.

Maybe not, but the HOF isn't merely a regular season numbers game, either. While your argument is certainly valid, Ucant, Canton residency isn't determined by a computer. Opinions, media perception and post-season success/failures all matter. Of course, this probably fits within your apples to oranges premise. The stats are certainly there ... and they're certainly sick, but stats on paper don't always tell the story.

I don't think Tomlinson is quite over the hump yet, but that opinion also comes with a catch-22, of sorts. If LT's career were to end tomorrow, for example, the fact his resume was cut short at a time when he was one of (if not, the) most dominant player in the game makes him a mortal lock for a Canton bust.

He's at the top of his game now, and there's a whole lot more where that came from. It's near impossible to argue that point, barring injury or high school O-line blocking for him next season.

The only thing that could keep him out, IMO, is an upcoming string of four or five very pedestrian seasons that include constant kill-pieces from the media that, over enough time, could rewrite public opinion to something completely different than what is seen today. His success would have to be tainted as a blip on the radar, or at least something close to Kurt Warner's St. Louis run ... something that has set the gold standard for falls from grace.

Anything over that merely becomes gravy on an already tasty course.

Does that help?

What about the statements you made are you not understanding?

You claim The Stilt's "skills as a reciever out of the backfield" were what separated him from the rest of the pack.

Now that it was pointed out that your argument was fucking stupid, you've seemed to distance yourself from it pretty quickly.

If recieving out of the backfoeld is what defines a great RB, then obviously, he's not the best.

Take the marbles out of your mouth. Pick one side of the argument and stick with it, at minimum.

Or at least say something like "uhm errr...you mistunderstood... I MEANT blah blah blah."

The least you could do is backpedal, rather than completely ignore the fact your criteria countered your own argument, and ask for a link to your own statements, which were quoted in the post you asked for a link to.

You said it... quit being a bitch.

So, does recieving out of the backfoeld define the overall greatness of a RB, or not? It's a yes or no question, and before you answer it, bear in mind that you already made the statement.

It's a part of the total package. It's how no one else can challenge his rushing AND RECEIVING yards record over six years. There's been players who've rushed for more yards. There's been players who've received more yards. It's not the measuring stick. It's a component, you jackass. Without that skill, he doesn't have the record. To reiterate, THAT SKILL is what separates him, i.e., gives him the record.
