The Big Hurt

Post by stuckinia »

Pretty fitting that his 500th home-run would come in a losing effort being that he is one of the most overrated losers ever. I remember his WGN circle-jerk crew as he was carrying his team to one ALCS during his “HOF’ career. Worthless fatass.

^^^ I like this guy.

Pretty nice touch that he got tossed for arguing balls and strikes in the same game in which he clubbed the milestone. Kinda' sums up his entire career.

Gimme a nice fat meatball, or this bat is not coming off my shoulder. I'm Frank motherfucking Thomas, and that wasn't a strike.... wahhhh!

You seem a little angry. That's unusual for you!!

What about Frank Thomas would have you call him a loser? 500 HomeRuns in 17 years is impressive, especially considering that he was injured for 3 years (2001, 2004 & 2005).

He averages 37 HomeRuns, 121 RBI with a .303 Batting Avg. every year. I haven't heard his name cup up in any Steroid allegations.

and as far as him getting tossed in a game where he hit his 500th. Hell, it shows he cares more about winning a game than he worries about STATS.

Rack Jack.

Although Thomas has not been described as a leader and a personality in the clubhouse people can warm up to, dude is a great ballplayer. Jack said it best, his stats are really impressive considering all of the injuries that plagued him for 2 years in a row. He deserves to go to the Hall.

Think this through, and see if you can figure out why you're an idiot.

I'll give you a hint: Thomas believes that his team is better off without him in the game?

Fucking brilliant.

Dins,

Have you ever played a sport??

and I am not talking bowling or tiddlywinks....

When you play a sport with passion, you get into it and when an ump calls an obvious ball, a stike, it is not uncommon to look at that ump and say.."Are you Blind?"

... that is the wrong thing to say because ... you get tossed for saying that but it happens when you care about what you are doing..

From ESPN:
But in the ninth, Thomas was ejected by plate umpire Mark Wegner after being called out on strikes for the second time in the game. Blue Jays manager John Gibbons came out to argue and also got tossed.

"I'm probably the first to get 500 home runs and get thrown out of the ballgame," Thomas said. "That's something I didn't want to happen, but the moment just got the best of me."

"I've still got hunger and desire. You saw that in the ninth inning," he said. "I still care. The game wasn't over in my opinion, and I was up there to battle."

Joe Dumars?

Moses Malone?

Derek Jeter?

Greg Maddux?

Is that enough, or should I list 3500 more names for you?

Dins,

Some people are passionate, some are not!

http://onemoredyingquail.blogspot.com/2 ... ction.html

Here are some...

Billy Martin

Paul O'Neil (The Player/ Leader that the Yankees miss the most. Have they won a world series since they dumped him??)

Babe Ruth (http://www.baseballlibrary.com/ballplay ... _Ruth_1895)

Lou Gehrig (http://www.answers.com/topic/lou-gehrig)

Greg Maddux (http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_q ... _n12555125) - what did you say?

Moses Malone - Are you kidding me?? I am from New England (look up November 9, 1984)

Jeter has never as far as I know been ejected, and I know very little about Joe Dumars.

I'll always respect Big Frank. When I was much younger, I lived basically right across the street from The White Sox's spring training stadium/minor league farm team in Sarasota, FL. Great times were had when my buds and I came early, and stayed late trying to get as many autographs as we could. Frank was ALWAYS one of the very few who signed before, and after games, and stayed as long as he could. I got four autographs from the guy one year. He was never a dick about it either, or acted like he was just doing it for PR.

Of course there were also some bigtime fuckheads like Jack McDowell who preferred to flip little kids off instead of just ignoring them.

Good point. That's an autograph that'll never be worth a damn thing. So you might as well make the experience more memorable.

Losing out on a Bob Gibson autograph, however...that's gotta suck.

Fuck Jack McDowell.

You lived in "the hood"?!? 12th and Tuttle...where Ed Smith stadium is, is in the hood. For a point of reference, 17th st. is aka MLK. As y'all know, anytime you're on MLK, you're in the hood. It's good to know you come from such humble begginnings. So you went to Booker elementary or HS? Widely famous for being the location of GWB during the 9/11 attacks? That's the school district located "basically across the street" from the ballyard. So either you're full of shit, or you had a rough upbringing.

Not sure how or why this matters, just calling your bluff is all.

Calling my "bluff?" Why the fuck would I make that up, smart guy?

My parents are certainly more well off today than they were 10+ years ago, but I definitely wouldn't characterize where I lived as "the hood." There were worse places, to be sure, and much worse places in Sarasota alone.

You had a richer upbringing than I did, I guess. Mega props to you I suppose.

[Zysdale]I once represented a party in a business transaction. Frank Thomas' father-in-law was the attorney for the other side.[/Zysdale]

Frank married into the Silver family, which is virtually synonymous with Rochester Red Wings baseball.
