yo Dinsdale, Ottawa Jazz Festival report

Good call on Pink Martini, not a "rockiing" band, some what ecclectic, full horn section and almost orchestralesc (is that a word) compositions, but more than enough vibe and energy to get your groove on to.

Didn't exactly get tixs to get in the venue, but hung outside lounging in the grass, with the old lady, a bottl'o'wine, and a group of french speaking canucks, eh, along the Rideau Canal. Sound still carried well, and they had a big screen set up for us slackers to watch outside the fence.

The Neville Bro's should be pretty damn cool in a couple o'days.

Lot's of other good tunes in bars and boardwalks, open areas around town. I'll try to get around to some pics when I get back home next week.

That's kind of a requirement for Portland bands, regardless of genre. Hell, we have hiphop bands with horn sections.

Chicks dig Pink Martini. And the older the chick, the gooier they get when they groove to PM. Makes a show worth seeing for that reason alone.

I think I'm catching the Nevilles in a week or so.

Whoa doggie, the Neville's put on a pretty damn good show. Particularly since we we were front row right. About 1/3 through the show some volunteer bouncer called me aside, after I opened the bott'l of wine I snuck in, and said, "Hey, I set up some chairs right in the middle for some friends, they can't make it, do you and your wife/gf want to sit there?"

I apologize for not sizing this bitch down, but i'm sufficiently buzzed.

Jam session towards end of "Yellow Moon"
