Oregon's Pot-Head Mystique goes up another notch.

Post by Q, West Coast Style »

The Vernonia elementary school principal caught smoking pot last week will keep his job, the superintendent told The Oregonian this morning.

the Vernonia school board said it has reviewed the incident and "determined that this appears to be a single incident of poor judgment."
My pot smoking is also a single incident of poor judgment...poor judgment 20 years ago.

What Q fails to mention is that in Oregon, getting caught with less than an ounces is the legal equivalent to a jaywalking ticket(although the fine has gone way up since I last got one, which carried a monstrous $50 price tag).

So, a principal isn't getting fired over a simple non-criminal offense? Woop-dee-doo.

Plus, it's Vernonia, aka Vernowhere. It's pretty much the only real city in the North Coast Range, and frankly, you've gotta be buzzed to deal with living there.

Pothead rednecks many... teeth few.

Although, I've been told that one of the greatest musclecar collections in the world(since Reggie Jackson's warehouse burned down years ago) is in some dude's shop in Vernonia. I'm suprised dude hasn't taken all of those classic Chevelle and GTO bodies and mounted them on 4X4 truck frames -- a popular conversion in Vernowhere.

Hell, where I went to high school, students smoking out with faculty was quite commonplace.

Non-criminal, yes. It is a violation. However the Legislature in its wisdom still provides for a 6 month drivers license suspension upon conviciton. Fine is around $400. License suspention can be avoided if the defedant jumps through the hoops known as diversion, ie get evaluated by a drug specialis and follows up with any recommended treatment. You can do diversion 1 time. Or once ever 7 sears or something. Like most stats have for DUII's

And in the end, you're better off taking the suspension, taking cabs everywhere, and ponying up for the SR22 after the suspension.

Probably the reason you can only do the diversion once, is that they don't get anyone to fall for that scam a second time.

But the last time I got one, none of that bullshit existed. I'm suprised the legislature passed that, considering how completely foolish they looked after trying the recriminalization thing a few years back, under Adolph Kitzhaber. Can you say "referendum"? Then again, the legislature found a way to generate extra money, since every one of those "nonprofits"(talk about perversion of the term) is run by the brother-in-law of a state rep. Huuuuge scam. But it's Oregon, and anyone who tries to uncover one of the scams run by government officials always seems to suffer one of those mysterious "hiking accidents" at the coast. There is that. Or, in Michael Franke's case, they just offed him right in front of his office.

Wo dang.. I see a thread about smoking weed and Dinsdales name is the last post .....Big shocker there.

The whole town of Vernonia is rednecks, meth heads, drunk loggers, scammers and pregnant 12 year olds.

I know more than one or 2 of them, one is a truck driver who swears he has perfected a solution / process to beat ODOT drug test. Hes been driving for 7 years, tested 8 times and dude smokes A LOT of weed.

The principal smoking weed... beats ass fucking the little boys visa vi the Catholic Church. Besides, in Vernowhere, anybody, I mean anybody who would dare smack / criticize, label, bitch about the principal smoking some weed, likely has more than 1 or 2 skeletons in their closets and could ill afford to make waves unless they become part of the town gossip as well. Even the nicest 80 year old church going couple probably was swapping with the barmaids and other patrons at the Cedarside Inn, where you best carry weapons, because ...well every one else is ??

They do have a good car show in August, and I will catch that as well as a couple of park jam session, and then leave the town and go back to a respectable area ... beside only in Vernowhere, can an on again, off again tweaker can even own a house .

BTW, the area around Vernowhere is growing some of the best outdoor bud in NW Oregon...or so I have heard....

And the Marion County DA, Dale Penn who prosecuted that case and sent old Frank up the river is now the head of the Oregon Lottery..and.. that DA ALLEDGLEY sent some innocent people to prison....and the same DA failed to prosecute some of the biggest drug dealers ever caught in Oregon alledgley... and and... and .....

I was living in Salem during the time of all that Franke shyte was going down.....we lived near to that park next to the offices where Franke worked. Everybody I talked to around there (granted they were all psychotice meth heads but other than that were good people) knew about the cover up

Those were the days...
that was just across the street from the state mental hospital where they filmed "One Flew Over The Cookoos Nest". It was wild to see people staring out the windows at us throwing frisbees down below.
Nearby was the State Prison for the Criminally Insane....those dude often walked across the street to the wood shop unescorted...
