I actually was thinner in college, even though I could eat 30 wings in a sitting, along with a few slices, and I drank like a fish.
Turning 30 slowed my metabolism. It went downhill from there.
Hit 220 about two years ago and felt like crap. Wife and I decided to clean up our acts and get healthy. Changed what we ate and started exercising. Had a full physical earlier this year and the doc said I was in better shape than I was back in college. My wife is down to her college weight. I'm enjoying that also. A lot.
I still drink, of course, but I've traded beer for Glenlivet.
