He played the bad guy on the hit NBC series "Heroes." The 11th Star Trek movie (simply titled "Star Trek") directed by "Lost" creator J. J. Abrams will begin filming this November with a Christmas '08 release. Leonard Nimoy has been signed to appear in a cameo role as the elder Spock. So far, William Shatner hasn't been asked to reprise his role as Capt. Kirk. Confused? Let me try to sort things out:
This new movie is supposed to take us back to the beginning of the Star Trek saga with an entirely new cast of characters. Quinto as Spock was the first casting selection made. Interesting to see who will be called to play Kirk, Scotty, McCoy, Uhura and the rest.
So then, how does Leonard Nimoy figure in this? It would seem the new movie starts out with the elder Spock having to recall a significant past event where Kirk and Spock began their five year mission and the introduction of the rest of the crew. Interesting that Shatner hasn't received his casting call yet. But, remember Kirk was killed off in "Star Trek: Generations" and Spock continued to live into old age and was featured in several ST: Next Gen episodes.
If everything fits then it's the perfect resolution of what you may say: "Yes, you can go home again."

Re: And starring Zachary Quinto as Mr. Spock
Between 'Enterprise' and 'Star Trek: Insurrection', I'm just not interested in Star Trek going back to the well anymore. 'Enterprise' broke my heart as soon as Braga and Berman pressed the reset button to do idiot altered timeline stories. 'Enterprise' broke a promise.
'Insurrection'.... was 'Insurrection'.
'Insurrection'.... was 'Insurrection'.
on a short leash, apparently.
