Great intro's
A while back there was a rackable thread in here listing some songs with great intro's, or what I believe are also termed 'prologues'.
It might be cool to reset that thread and with youtube, if you so choose, it's easy to link that bad boy up.
I've always dug this.
Alan Parsons Project - Eye in the Sky
Helluva band.
That doofus out front in the striped shirt could go away and I wouldn't miss him, though.

The Husker football team enters the stadium to that one amid the 'tunnel vision'. Good song. Great tension builder.War Wagon wrote:A while back there was a rackable thread in here listing some songs with great intro's, or what I believe are also termed 'prologues'.

I think I have to go with PBF's intro for LBWET.
Yadda, yadda, yadda.

Some deadheads up in this bitch, eh?
That's cool. Never was much into the GD myself, but I can respect those who were/are. "truckin" and "sugar magnolia" are about the extent of what I can stomach.
This is more my speed.
There may have been a better bass player than John Entwhistle, but I don't know who that is. John Paul Jones, mebbe?

Twizzy -- whatever you do, don't click the "Grateful Dead Parking Lot" vid...
You'll cry, wishing those days could have lasted just a little longer. I sure wasn't ready to retire at that time.
And if we're talking Zep, my favorite intro was probably In The Evening.
Couldn't find a live clip showing Pagey going off with the bow. Used to have some boots with some really long ITE intros.

Short intro, but one of my favorites. Just gives the sense of impending mayhem.
Greatest. Metal. Guitarist. EVAR.
Cemetary Gates has a bitchin intro, but couldn't find the full version on youtube.

Rack that link, Dins. Not so much for In the Evening tune (which was nice), but the one linked up right next to it at the top.
Never saw this before... fucking RACK! Them's some HOT bitches.
Whoever put that to Trampled Under Foot was a fucking genius. Watch the whole vid boys, not just the first 30 seconds. You won't be disappointed.

Not your typical intro
What were you saying about better bassists, Wags?
Those fuckers write what may have been, at that time, the shreddinest metal face-ripper ever, and in the midst of the video, a couple pops onstage ballroom dancing... awesome.

^^^ One of my favorite intros, and you've never heard it before, except from maybe me posting it.
Fixed the last link-btw.

My current favorite.
Saw them last weekend, matter of fact.

On the theme of bands who cut their teeth playing dingy Portland clubs(before my time)... except this one you've probably heard of.

Hopefully you don't get cut off during this vid like I do.

That may be the first time I've thought Heart was relevant in 25 years...Dinsdale wrote:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AdW4zi2vFsk

Nah, they still suck donkey ballz.
Heart? You've got to be trolling me. Just because they're from Portland and were rather famous at one time, doesn't mean they're good.
My 8-track tape player just puked all over itself.
Can't find a decent vid for Spreading The Disease -- outstanding intro.
She always brings me what I need
Without I beg and sweat and plead
When we're alone at night, waiting for the phone
She feeds my skin
Hard to believe that's been 19 years... remember it like it was yesterday.

Oh my lord. I can't even begin to describe the level of sucktitude that Heart attained. Sellout? That's a generous description at best. Think Journey or Styx, without the maxi-pads.Dinsdale wrote:Heart is from Seattle. Played more early gigs in Portland than Seattle, or so they claim.
And through their first 4 albums, before the "sellout," they were an AWESOME band.
Look mang, I was guilty of falling into that trap as well. Thankfully, I was able to extricate myself before permanent damage was done. To this day, whenever I hear a Heart song come on the radio, I want to do one or more of the following things.
1. Rip my car stereo out of the console and toss it out the window onto the freeway.
2. Drive down to said offensive radio station and blow up their entire operation.
3. Call the FCC and complain about vulgar material being broadcast.
4. Go Toddowen and just end the insipid abuse.
I'm mad as hell, and I can't take it anymore. I can't take anymore ZZ Top after their sellout either. Yet those zoots continue to think "she's got legs" and "sharp dressed man" is cutting edge stuff.
Oh, the humanity.
Huh?Pretty telling that Whitey is threatened by strong women.
Give me some ABBA, anyday.

Not an original? No shit. That's an Aaron Copeland reset, and it's not an intro.Dinsdale wrote:And this thread wouldn't be right without mention of...
ELP -- Fanfare For The Common Man
Not an original, but they do it best.
Goddamn.
ELP was freaking AWESOME, though, so I won't even criticize that. Tarkus and Pictures at an Exhibition kicked some major ass.
Asia didn't suck either.
As if I needed a remionder why everyone ridicules Whitey...
Yo, Wags...
I can't think of two bigger sellouts in the entire music world that Page and Plant.
They refused to let JPJ tour with them, so they would only have to split the money 3 ways.
Are you freaking kidding me?
Agree on ZZ, though. Almost tolerable in the olden days, atrocious once they decided the 12 year olds market was more lucrative.
If you gave a donkey's balls whatever it is Barry Bonds does, it would barely even put a dent in their mouths. Disgrace to every band that their members hailed from (including the second-best drummer ever).
Domo arigato, Mr Tardato.

Why yes... yes, they did.Asia didn't suck either.

That one that everybody knows, but no one can ever name.
You gonna' post a Genesis "abacab" link?
Only that could suck worse than Children of the Sun.
