It's not cheating if he's permitted to use it.

bob gibson would put a baseball right between his ears, then knock the body armor off his next at bat. then when pumpkin head came out to the mound he would of knocked him the fuck out.

pitchers are pussies and the league is bigger pussies.

the head of punishment is a douchbag, talk about a fucking hypocrite.

the whole league is fool of pussies and crybabies. thank the collusion ruling for that, it gave the players association absolute power, look, the game is run with roiders and cheaters and they dont do a thing about it. they make nefi perez the villain

No, but it does make it unfair if other players are denied the same armor.

Are they? I thought they could apply with a doctors slip.

The armor was intended to protect an elbow that had been hit repeatedly. Whether or not people like it I'm pretty sure that if he takes that armor off, the first pitch he sees will be on the elbow.

I find it hard to believe that MLB would allow a design that would enhance the swing. Someone would have complained by now.

Yeah, you have a point, but I don't think it's a bonds issue as much as it is a players union one. If MLB made any one of those allowed to wear armor take it off, the union would raise a stink and as they usually do, win.

Plus, if he IS crowding the plate why don't they just plunk him on the hip, wrist, or the arm? That armor doesn't cover every place, just the elbow.

Toss it close enough in on him up out of the strike zone and he'd have to back off.

I can imagine it would still sting quite a bit if a 93mph heater hit him there, anyway.

No freaking way!! Gibson's got to be in his 70's by now. I doubt he could bring the heater like he did in his prime. And if Barry charged the mound Gibby could fend him off with his cane. Who'd be the cheater then huh?
