pretty decent action flick. looks great, not long on substance. anyone looking for a politics or history subtext is gonna be disappointed. pretty conventional genre flick, all in all. but, visually, is pretty kick ass.
you roll your eyes a few times....but worth the matinee price of admission.

on a short leash, apparently.
i thought it was great. in a braveheart, gladiator, cinderella man kindo of way. i can watch those movies anytime theyre on. i rented it from one of those mickey d machines. one buck one night. the wife was out of town and when i told her about it, she said she really wanted to see it also. she must of thought it was jesus part 2. i said hell yeah, ill watch it again, as our anniversary was coming up and we had a babysitter date night lined up. went to dinner, grabbed the movie and went home. we had sex for 3 minutes and then went to watch the movie. after the first few minutes, she was complaining that it was too violent. i reassured her there were only two really bad scenes and id warn her ahead of time. i must have been really buzzed when i watched it the first time becaus ethere were exactly 153 really cool gory scenes. we agreed to turn it off and watch something else perhaps a comedy. i watched the rest later that night hopped up on beer and hydrocodone.
five stars here.

i don't really understand why people (props on the 3 minutes bbqj) thought that it was so gory.
christ, i guess 44 kills with a glock are bloodless enough for most action pics. as long as there are titties and big ass explosions. Or Arnold.
most people don't object to violence in media per se, they object to violence they don't agree with (which is to say, violence is OK in a "moral" context). or: in this case primitive violence is a grossout. good modern violence like "Shock and Awe" or Israeli tanks rolling through Palestinian homes are pretty cool.
