Yankee player, broadcaster dies at 89

Hall of Fame shortstop and longtime broadcaster Phil Rizzuto passed away at the age of 89 on Tuesday, according to a report on WNBC's Web site.
The 1950 AL MVP, Rizzuto played 13 seasons with the Yankees, going to the playoffs in 10 of them.
He would later serve as the team's color commentator, both on radio and televsion, for 40 years.
Rizzuto was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1994 after being voted in by the Veterans Committee.
