Saints/Colts. Probably one of the best matchups we'll see all year. I am almost certain we will be witnessing one hell of a shootout tonight. I think Indy pulls it off with a key defensive stand in the end.

It could be their only one for the game, but I think this match up won't come down to who has the ball last, but who makes that one significant stop late in the 4th quarter.

If by "shootout," you mean watching Deuce McAllister repeatedly run through the middle of the line for four or five yards while Peyton stands on the sideline, then yes ... we're in for one hell of a shootout.

I'll take ball control, the under (53 right now), and the Saints in the week one upset.

I like the Saints chances. Indy has lost too much.

I believe that N.O. was the better team (than the Bears) last year and should have been the NFC entry to the SuperBowl, and tonite they prove it.

That's an interesting angle, but I don't think Peyton has it in him to go all smart and pound the ball on the opening night of the 2007 season. Dude will want to mix it up and get Reggie involved with the dumpoffs and some deep routes in the first half. Then, SP will start to pound the ball in the second half if they are in position to do so. Yeah, that game plan worked well for the Texans last year en route to their first ever victory against the Colts late last season. Its possible other teams catch on to this, but Indy's defensive line is probably their strong suit of that entire side of the ball.

Indy ranked dead-freaking last against the run last year. I don't think teams are dependent on the Texans for that kind of scouting brilliance, Rump.

I don't know if New Orleans can stop Peyton (that's the player, btw ... not the coach), but they can certainly slow him down and break his rhythm if he's kept off the field.

BTW a draft beer is $9.89 including tax.

Went and had dinner at a "sports" bar with one of the sales reps - We had 3 beers each, some Wings, and a couple steak sandwiches. The total? With Tip $90

I love reading the pre-game predictions after it is all said and done (and before your bitches start, I didn't comment before the game, because I was expecting Drew to light it up tonight too, so blow me); it all just goes to show we don't really know shit. That's why they play the game.

Peyton & Reggie made Jason David just plain look silly. That was too easy. You'da thought playing opposite them in practice for all those years would have taught him a thing or two about trying to ready Peyton's eyes/look offs.
80 something yards for the Saints' dynamic duo; I'll take that. I'm still gonna take a wait and see approach before I grade the defense; people have been known to lift cars and shit, when the adrenalin is flowing. With all the hype going on downtown this week, it was definitely flowing tonight. But a good showing on opening day none-the-less.

Good to see the offense get their collective head's out of their asses in the second half. Addai going down on his first carry of the new season was scary as shit!!!

Thank GOD it's football season.

Just a brutal performance by the Saints. Brees looked timid and was reluctant to take shots down the field in the first half. Bad game. Colts fuckin' pwned on offense once again. I think Tiny is right, lets not go jumpin' on the bw for the performance of the Colts D.

Nobody's going to burn your house down if you're wrong with a prediction or opinion ... even at the expense of your beloved Mannings.

Not sure what happened with this game, other than the fact New Orleans couldn't get any pressure on The Endorsement. David got smoked on the same stop-and-go play three times in succession, and Payton seemed to be too eager to take chances downfield in the first half.

As for your comment about Brees, Rump, that's par for the course with him. He generally doesn't have success when the team abandons the running game, and only when Indy relaxed to a prevent in the second half did things open up over the middle. With things shut down outside, he hammered Eric Johnson like a security blanket ... just as he used to with Gates. He's an outstanding quarterback when other components are working, but he's not going to consistently right the ship on his own. Not his fault, mind you ... he just doesn't have the physical tools to force the issue like others in the game do.

Nice game from Reginald, btw. Those dropped passes really do wonders for offensive momentum.

Payton's going to watch this film about 60K times and realize he fell into the predictability trap. Couldn't help thinking we were watching the coordinator that got ran off by Fassel instead of last season's coach of the year.

Last year Payton was head coach of a team that was predicted to be a pile of shit. He had nothing to lose and he opened up that playbook and produced the No 1 offense in the NFL. However now he is a coach of a team that is predicted to contend for a Superbowl appearance, and his starfish was a bit puckered last night. Predictable runs by Bush and Deuce combined with what looked like the Brees of old, and you had yourself a coach that was trying not to lose the game, instead of attacking and trying to win. I have nothing against the Aint's, but Payton needs to be that carefree coach and air it out, if he wants this team to go places.

Saints were just not ready. I think Payton abandoned the running game too soon. there were some endarounds ran by Stecker and Bush in the first half that produced big gains for the Saints, but they didn't go back to Deuce enough. If they committed to the running game, then there probably would have been a good chance for Henderson and Colston to be open downfield.

There's no shame in losing to the Super Bowl champs on opening day in their crib, but man they could have tried to keep it interesting.

Thankfully this is the NFL and one loss does not ruin a season (see: CFB forum) - Luckily the Saints are at Tampa next week. If they get blown out in that game then I might just start shopping for shower rods.
