I don't know how many of you have seen Oregon play this year, but they are the best Oregon team I've seen in many years. I wouldn't rank anybody until about another month though. This is coming from a former Oklahoma student and USC grad.
Too early to tell. Just saying Oregon may be a lot better than people think.

Seriously. I don't disagree with a word of it.

Entirely possible.
But even us Ducksfans aren't quite sure. We'll see what happens when a team that can actually test the defense hits the scedule (ain't happening this week, with Furd coming up).
USC and Kal may well shape up to be track meets for the ages.
I got 99 problems but the 'vid ain't one
Ohio State has a nice little team this year, and it's always nice to get a win in the U&L where other top programs have struggled over the years.
However, our guys are really young and the offense still looks stale during long stretches. If we are a top ten team, at best we should be right at #10, but no higher IMO.

I think Oregon is getting respect here, they are in almost every top10 and close in the others.
As far as Ohio State goes- after the easy top-4 things become a mishmash. I put Ohio State #5 simply because Tressel has a history of being able to win the close-ones.
The Wazzu win was solid but scabdicking by UNLV and letting Citadel bitchslap your D are very lame. Wiscy needs to quit playing-down to their competition and drop-the-hammer like the upper-tier team they are alleged to be. I like Biliema, hope his team quits this coasting shit.

Like certain other Big 10 teams, the Badgers have had problems against the spread offense. Thankfully, we’re into the conference schedule now and shouldn’t have to deal with that shit any more. It does appear that the defense has been mailing it in somewhat, but they definitely looked better in the second half Saturday.MgoBlue-LightSpecial wrote:I figured the UNLV game, on the road, was just one of those start-of-the-year-shake-off-the-rust type games. But then The Citadel came out and worked the Badgers in Madison. Needless to say, I haven't been impressed. They need to come out and really unload on Iowa, and make a statement.
They should make theJON cry Saturday night. Smoke and mirrors, baby.

A couple of things --
First, Michigan won a game. Regardless whether it was against the worst team in all of D1A, that still entitles them to the top 10, possibly top 5. Pollsters out front told me.
Second -- rewarding LSU for scheduling cupcakes is pure bullshit.
Sure, LSU is looking tough... REALLY tough. They've been #2 since the preseason polls. Now suddenly this week, we're hearing lots of "LSU should be #1!"
Huh?
What, based on their trouncing of a fearsome Sun Belt team that has yet to win a game? While the standing #1 team went into a ranked Big 12 team's house and kicked the living shit out of them?
Is this some sort of joke?
If the people don't demand any sort of intelligence from the pollsters, and echo their stupidity... don't complain when the pollsters do something stupid, since you ENCOURAGED it.
Unfreakingbelievable.
If more than 2 teams run the table, LSU should be left out. Period. Time to walk the walk, and take the emphasis off talking the talk, SEC. I was actually suprised to see them play VT, but it was at home, OF COURSE. This pansy-assed scheduling needs to stop. Plenty of guilty parties across the board, but the SEC is by far the worst offenders, so they should pay for it the most. Enjoy the Runner-Up Bowl, LSU.

While the SEC in-general is definitely guilty of cupcake scheduling I can't fault LSU since they did bring Va Tech in. I'm sure LSU has to visit Va Tech too, the hokies aren't doing a one-sided deal. If LSU get through the SEC unscathed, likely having to beat Florida TWICE, I'd say they deserve a shot in the big-dance.Dinsdale wrote:A couple of things --

Rating schedules pre-season is lame. Noone knows how things will turn out. SEC's schedules appear tough because of the inflated rankings of the teams in conf. We've gone over this shit hundreds of times, yet SEC BSH'ers refuse to acknowledge the facts.
How's Auburn looking?
Where's the SEC defensive superiority in a game featuring 70+ points?
LSU looks pretty good. Florida looks damn tough. what else y'all got? Georgia...nope, Tennessee?nah. Alabama, not so fast my friend. It's pretty much a two team conference, like most.

way too much love for South carolina
they beat a Georgia team with many issues, especially at QB. I thought georgia would struggle this year(cept if your facing Colorado).
They won't sniff the title game. They will have 4-5 conference losses when it's over. Please save the love for a team that deserves it!

So DIns.....let me ask you.....how do you make the NUMBER ONE schedule higher????
Oh.....you can't.....sit the fuck down unless you come with something better than this nanny-nanny boo-boo BS!!!

Let's make a deal...
I'll stop cracking wise about SEC sceduling when the SEC quits making a mockery of scheduling.
Deal?
Ball's in your court, SEC.
Over the last 10 years the SEC has collectively played 384 out of conference games, of those 384 games, 54 were road games vs other BCS schools (the majority of those were in state rivalry games).
Only 3 of the 12 SEC teams averaged even 1 OOC Road game vs anyone a year during that 10 year period (Kentucky, Miss st, Vandy) Kentucky played in rotating years Indiana or Louisville for 1 road OOC game a year, Miss St who played 11 road games during that 10 year period played 2 vs BCS schools the other 9 were vs Memphis, Tulane and UAB... Vandys 11 road games over that 10 year period included 3 games vs Duke and 2 vs Wake Forest, toehrs they played were Navy, Georgia tech and a few games vs TCU. In total the SEC has played 20% of their OOC games on the road (79 out of 384
Over 10 years Alabama played a total of 4 road games OOC, Arkansas played 3, Auburn played 3, LSU played 4, Tennessee played 4.
Florida and Georgia each played 6 vs instate rivals.
Its only the bottom half of the SEC teams that play road games, maybe theyre on the bottom half because they take risks in scheduling.
Until you see SEC teams play 50% of their OOC games on the road, I dont think they deserve anyones respect... anybody can win 10 games a season when 8 are played at home
