MNF- Pats at Bengals
MNF- Pats at Bengals
NE rolls into town dominating thus far to take on a Cincy team that is literally limping into the game. Injuries are killing the Cats right now. Their LB corps for MNF is down to 4 guys, 3 of whom weren't even in training camp!!! When you look at how Brady and Co. are rolling right now and the fact that a much more healthy Bengals D gave up 51 to the Derek Anderson led Browns and on paper it appears this one could get ugly. Not to mention the troubles on offense for Cincy. Chris Henry is still on suspension, Tab Perry who was his replacement is out injured, Willie Anderson still isn't able to play a full game and Eric Ghiacuic may or may not be back this game. Not to mention the problems at RB. Already down Chris Perry and Kenny Irons to start the year now they'll be without Rudi Johnson. So Kenny Watson gets the start and the #2 RB is a guy they just picked up this week in DeDe Dorsey who's never played 1 snap in an NFL regular season game!!! Not to mention the woes on special teams for Cincy where they've given up a return of at least 60 yards in all 3 games so far this year.
It'll be interesting to see how coach camcorder decides to attack the Bengals. The Pats have proven adept at the big play pass this year and Cincy has shown they are very vulnerable to giving up the big pass. The Pats also have an effective ground game and Cincy hasn't been able to stop the run very well either. Brady may or may not have a bum shoulder and Maroney may or may not have a bum groin. My guess is that the Pats will be content most of the night to run all over Cincy with Maroney and Morris and hit guys like Watson and Welker underneath for shorter gains with the occasional deep toss to Moss mixed in. A tendency I've noticed, which I'm sure New Englands resident videophile has too, is that when the Bengals D gives up long sustained drives on a consistent basis in a game Carson Palmer can start to force the issue which results in 3 and outs. When the Cincy D is simply getting lit up quickly the offense tends to just go about their business, but when forced to sit and wait they can press. Hence my guess that NE will be content to run for 4-5 yards and complete 6-7 yard passes all night long.
For that reason I think the game will be closer than most think and also more low scoring than most think. The line opened at 7.5 and hasn't moved and the o/u is a relatively speaking low of 53. I think NE will get the lead early to try to minimize the frenzy the crowd will no doubt be in and then go the more plodding route. Game will stay close but in the end the Bengals will make the mental errors they can't seem to get away from.
NE- 28
Cincy- 21
(my purely myopic pick is that Cincy gets the big TO's they need and Palmer has a field day. Cincy is 6-0 all time in their orange jerseys with white pants which is what they'll be wearing for this game. Cincy- 38, NE- 35)

I predict the Pats will have a SICK 3rd down conversion pct in this game.
Long drives, milk the clock, silence the crowd.
As you said, it might be more lower scoring than people are imagining.
Pretty much a laugher though.

Yeah, god forbid a fan of a team start a post about an upcoming game their team is involved in any sooner than the day of. Fuckin tard. On the positive side I see your failure to contribute anything meaningful to a thread streak is in tact. Props!!!War Wagon wrote: Starting a MNF thread on a Friday is bad form. Neely can join the tard squad too if he truly believes that the Bengals only score 10 points. There isn't enough game film for coach camcorder to review to accomplish that feat.
Again, EVERYONE thinks that NE runs away with this thing yet Vegas hasn't touched the line. A 7 point asterick win is looking more and more probable in my (and Vegas') book.

this will be the first Bengal Monday night game that I am dreading.. I agree with shine. This Bengal team presses when behind and has led me to the conclusion that we need a new Offensive coordinator. Drunk ass Bratkowski just isn't getting the job done, especially with all the talent on this team..

Both teams are high scoring Shine no question. However New England also has this thing called a DEFENSE!! I know we can stop you and I am pretty sure you can't stop us. With Rudi Johnson out the Bungles become one dimensional. What was the score last year?? It was 38-13 in case you forgot. Oh and the Pats may only be favored by 7 but you have to subtract 3 because they are on the road. 10 point spread really......

You're a Bungles fan that started a MNF thread predicting that you're going to lose, the only question being by how many.Shine wrote: Again, EVERYONE thinks that NE runs away with this thing yet Vegas hasn't touched the line. Major cajones there. But why bother?
So if somehow they do win (and it could happen), or lose by less than 7, you can breathlessly rush back in here, pound your chest, and mutter "see, you guys were waaay off"?
Keep polishing those apples.

I started a thread about the game to get a discussion going because there are a decent amount of Pats fans on this board. Unlike the vast majority of myopian tards that populate this forum I'm capable of making a rational commentary on it so yeah, I picked my team to lose. The discussion never got off the ground because:
A- fucktards such as yourself added nothing but internet white noise
B- Pats fan apparently feels a solid take is thumping their chest and posting lopsided scores
If/when Cincy loses in a blowout, I'll be here to take my lumps.
If/when Cincy loses a tight game, I'll be here to piss and moan about the missed chances that are hard to take as a fan, even when you foresee them coming.
If/when Cincy wins the game, I'll be here not to do the "I told you so" dance (because I didn't tell you so) but to celebrate the fact my team got a big victory and heads into their bye week on a high note. Although if this scenario does play out I'll enjoy talking some shit to uber-smug astericks fan.

So predicting a score that pretty closely mirors the score by which your team got their ass kicked last year is going overboard? So what exactly did the Bungles add to their vaunted defense in the offseason? Why should we not see a blowout? You guys are without Rudi Johnson who you had in the game last year. The Pats however have added Moss, Stallworth, Welker, and a guy on the other side of the ball named Adalius Thomas. We whooped your ass last year and added a shitload to that team. What have the Bungles done?
On the bright side you at least made an attempt to comment about the game instead of just posting a score. Sadly though that's where the positives end because you've hammered home that you're talking out of your ass and chest thumping once more. If you recall correctly, and judging by your posts you don't, the Pats only had an 8 point lead at half and held that mere 1 score lead going into the 4th quarter. The game turned when the Bengals fumbled deep in their own territory on back to back possessions leading to 2 NE scores and putting the game out of reach. The two TD drives combined totaled 42 total yards. The game was closer than the score indicated, but like I pointed out in my initial post, the Bengals have a bad tendency to make mental errors in crunch time and shoot themselves in the foot (see: 4 of their last 5 games for additional proof).Neely8 wrote: So predicting a score that pretty closely mirors the score by which your team got their ass kicked last year is going overboard? Yes we're missing Rudi Johnson, the guy who carried a whopping 14 times last year. I think in a 1 game scenario we'll be okay. Palmer is the man who makes the offense go and last year he was only on his 4th game from the super accelerated comeback. I've said it time and time again, he wasn't really right until the second half of last year. The CP that NE will face tonight is a much better player than the one they faced last year. Not to mention Chris Henry was suspended for the game last year so that's nothing different for the game tonight. I'll take Watson for Johnson with a healthy Palmer all day long as far as tradeoffs from last year.
Adalius Thomas. Why does that name sound so familiar??? Oh yeah, he's a former Ravens player who Cincy got to face twice a year for his entire career. Been there done that, we know how to handle a player like him despite his considerable talents.
I'm well aware of the WR firepower that the astericks added but again my guess is that NE will employ a more ball control attack which somewhat negates those additions. If coach camcorder wants to air it out all game and get into a shootout I'd more than welcome it. The Bengals function best in a shootout and their swiss cheese but opportunistic D has a better chance for scoring TO's that way.
If you want to count on more Bengals errors leading to a route, well that isn't a bad call actually. But all Cincy has to do to keep this thing close or win is not cough up the ball deep in their own territory.

More than anything, I was just greasing the wheels for our Week 6 tilt.
As for tonites game, I'm hoping that Cincy can somehow pull out a win, if for no other reason than to show that the Pats actually do have some vulnerability. I just haven't seen any yet.
My fantasy team would also like to see Maroney get some 1st and goal carries and maybe a TD, else I completely whiffed on that pick.
Here's hoping for a good, watchable game.

I'd be finding a bridge to jump off of had I needed him for anything more than "pile-on" points.
Thanks for the 12th hour heads up, fanball. Did I mention that don't like Belichik?
I guess it's only fair with Rudi being out...
Brady is going to go off tonite and Stallworth scores eleventynine points.

they were who we thought they were.. and they kicked our asses..
but seriously I thought the defence playing with drafted players out of the stands played as good as to be expected.
CPalmer was off and has been for most of the season. Chad and Tj have made too many catches that were thrown behind the receiver and that INT going into half time just took the air out of the stadium and out of this team.. I dont know what Carson saw but I saw him throw into triple coverage. and that fight/yelling match was a real nice way to end the half.
p.s. any one know what the waiver wire looks like for LBs? Jesus christ. fucking M.A.S.H. unit.
oh and BTW, it was nice to see TBrady throwing the ball up when your leading the game by 17 with 8 min left in the game. Real classy..
at least next week is a bye.. time to get healthy people..

They were up 14, you sniveling cunt. Two scores with 9:04 left against a team with a great offense who were stacking 9 men in the box. Should they have plowed into the line 3 times and punted? Good God, go fuck yourself....

Relax, PD....you have to understand something here. PatsieFan is all kinds of full of herself right now, and for good reason. They clearly can do NO WRONG in their myopic eyes, and frankly when they're putting up 35 points a game and steamrolling their opponents I can't blame them for thinking that way.
Turn the other cheek Pete, and let them have their glory.

LOL
9men in the box?
Hey 4 D-Linemen 2 linebackers (cause the rest were getting their pussy's checked out) and 3 DB's.. against the pats..
and Morris still looked like an all pro..
averaged over 5.5yds a carry.
seriously though the better team won and it wouldn't have mattered if we had 11 men in the box. That defense is atrocious!

When some bitch starts complaining that the Pats were "running up the score" = passing up only two scores with 9 minutes left, then they need to be put in their place. You don't take anything for granted… ever. Did you not see Peyton Manning bring his team back from 21 pts down with 4 minutes left in a MNF contest against Tampa in 03? You take your boot off their throat after the game... and not a minute sooner.
Furthermore, there's no myopia here. You don't see me saying anything about going 19-0 like Kornheiser was last night. Are you fucking kidding me? They have ROAD GAMES against two other teams that are undefeated. Do I think NE has a great shot to win the SB this year? Hell yeah, I do. However… Dallas may be just as good as NE and Indy is right there as well. We shall see.

Sorry my schedule didn't meet with your timetable War Wagon. Anyfuck...
Props to the Pats for firmly putting a boot up the collective asses of the Bengals. I am 100% sincere when I say this, thank you so much for that. That game and the brutal beatdown it was will, one way or the other, be the impetus to get the Bengals back on track toward being a SB caliber team. My hope is that the meltdown that ensued afterward will be digested over the bye week and result in a stronger team showing up in KC week 6 and a strong final 12 game finish. There are still a ton of winnable games on the slate and if (possibly a huge IF) the team regroups a 10-11 win season is still possible. Putting aside how they arrived at a 1-3 record for a moment, I always thought they'd be 2-2 heading into their bye so they're only 1 game off the pace I felt they'd be on. I predicted an 11-5 season. The (sadly) more probable scenario is that with the injuries and egos in the lockerroom the season will continue to get uglier and uglier BUT that will lead to major changes in the offseason. Either way, that Pats beatdown will alter the course of Cincy's season. The team just isn't mentally tough, the one prediction I had that was right, and it showed on the INT just before half. Instead of scoring to close the gap to 1 score and head to the half with momentum and getting the ball first, they have a breakdown and head into half bickering and on a down note.
As for the "running up the score" take, couldn't disagree more. It wasn't like NE was going shotgun and firing up 40+ yard passes up 24. Like it was pointed out, they only had a 2 score lead so why wouldn't they try to add a score to ensure a W??
As painful as it was to watch, and as many beers it caused to be downed in the Shine household, that game truly showed that the Bengals aren't anywhere close to being on the same level as the Pats. Label me the fool for thinking otherwise.

"We fully expect our student-athletes to accept the responsibilities academically, athletically and socially that come with representing one of the top programs in college basketball history."
