Chad Johnson's act is old. Thoughts on the Bengals

Post by Yer a Fuckin Jerkoff »

Marvin Lewis has lost the team and threw them under the bus last night, calling them selfish pricks. He's right. But Lewis should be fired too. He isn't a good head coach.

As far as Chad Johnson goes, I know Romie always says he's a great guy and a team player, but he's a me-me selfish dicknose who cares more about touchdown dances than his team's record. He almost cried after not scoring last night on that long pass play because he probably had some dumbass dance planned for Prime Time. He should have jumped up and been excited to get the Bengals in scoring position for a Rudi Johnson td run but that wasn't important to him. What was important to him was his opportunity to wave his dick in front of the national audience after a td. Fuck Chad Johnson. Carson Palmer is probably getting sick of him too. The Bengals are fucked straight up the asspipe this year.

thing is, Johnson isn't their most valuable receiver if one considers the numbers that Houshyourmamma is putting up......

but you've got to admit, that was a pretty nifty catch he made last night....

not a lot of receivers could have made that catch, and he made it look easy......

The Bungles are a team in serious trouble regardless of Chad Johnson's issues. I'm looking forward to Willie Parker hanging 250 yards on that defense in week 8.

Of course he is.

Always has been.

He conned a lot of people, and some in here, into thinking he was somehow fresh, cute, and interesting.

Chad Johnson is everything the NFL SHOULD BE, and he backs up his actions by putting up numbers every single year.

Fuck the haters.

Chad Johnson isn't even the best receiver on his own team. In fact, were Chris Henry not a perpetual thug, he wouldn't even be the second best receiver on the Bengals. He's a good possession receiver who has managed to convince idiots like you that he's a gamebreaker.

2007:

Chad Johnson -- 28 receptions, 495 yards, 123.8 yards per game, 17.7 average per,3.8 yards after catch, 27 for first downs, 0 fumbles

TJ Whosyourmamma -- 39 receptions, 360 yards, 90 per game, 9.2 per, 1.7 after catch, 20 first downs, 1 fumble

Beaverdouche2 does have a couple of more TDs.

2006:

CJ -- 87 catches, 1369 yards (led NFL), 85.6 per game (led NFL), 15.7 average, 3.8YAC, 66 first downs, 1 fumble lost

TJ -- 90 catches, 1081 yards(albeit missing 2 games), 77.2 per game, 12.0 average, 3.8YAC, 58 first downs, 0 fumbles, and again a couple more TDs than CJ

2005:

CJ -- 97 catches, 1432 yards, 89.5 per, 14.8 avg, 3.5 YAC, 74 first downs, 0 fumbles lost

TJ -- 78 catches, 956 yards, 68.3 per game, 12.3 avg, 4.1 YAC, 52 first downs, 1 fumble lost

Need 2004? They're about equally lopsided as 2005-2007.

Gamebreakers have more than one season in 7 with double digit TD totals. Gamebreakers have more than 44 TDs after 7 years in the league.

I'll give you that Johnson is good to heave the ball up to between the 20's every once in a while. But right now, it is obvious that Ocho is Option Duex when the Bungles are in the red zone. That blown route Monday night should have told you something. I'm sure it said something to Palmer.

Oh, and here's another stat to chew on. Houshyourmomma averages 15.3 targets per game to Ocho's 12.5.

Going forward, TJ's star is on the rise and Johnson's is starting to loose it's luster. But hey, feel free to cite some more old stats. Ther're VERY relevant. :meds:

Neither one of them is a game-breaker, but between the two it looks like Johnson’s the better receiver.

Does anyone remember what Johnson did to Champ Bailey a couple of years ago on primetime? For Bailey being known as "shutdown corner", Ocho Cinco sure did pwn him that entire game. He is still one of the best receivers in the game.

Well TJ has zero seasons in 7 with double digit TD totals. After 7 years in the leage he has 26 TDs. TJ has led the AFC in receiving yards as many times as I have to the 4 that CJ has.

Nice stat by the way, TJ is targeted more often and produces lower numbers than CJ. Way to hammer home your point.

Not to mention the 3 game stretch last year where CJ put up the highest totals since the merger.

But hey, feel free to ignore the actual production of each guy and hold firm to your feelings on the matter. They're VERY relevant.

I simply said that THIS YEAR, TJ is the better all around receiver. He's the guy Palmer is going to both in the end zone and when the Bungles need to move the chains. I never said 85 wasn't good, just that he's fading in comparison to TJ. And he's really going to start fading if Chris Henry can stay the fuck out of jail. Because then there will be a younger and faster version of 85 on the field.

But hey, feel free to be distracted by stats that are grossly inflated thanks to one monster game against the Browns. It's kinda what 85 is known for. You know, like last year when he fattened up his stats for 3 weeks in the middle of the season and then laid a fucking goose egg when his team needed him the most during their last 3 games (all loses) when just one more win would have put your shit franchise (thanks UCant) into the playoffs.

Try that stat on for size. The "replaceability factor" tends to not agree with you. Then again, neither does anyone else.

The "replaceability factor"?

Even the people who publish that stat admitt that it doesn't mean much, if anything. Santonio Holmes is more irreplaceable than Hines Ward? Give me a fucking break. Take Hushmanwhatever out of there and it is ALL on CJ to run his routes correctly just to have a fucking chance to put up numbers.
Then again, neither does anyone else.

Of ALL the players one could point to as being the epitome of what the NFL should be, Paul points out Chad Johnson.

How 'bout pointing out someone who has overcome adversity -- injury, circumstance, or otherwise -- to show himself well, while conducting himself with grace and humility?

There are a number of those examples.

And yet you point out a loudmouth egomaniacal MEguy as being what the NFL should be.

Maybe if you're 11 yrs old.

SHOCKING that you miss the point, Pops....allow me to spell it out for you.

CJ tries to bring FUN to the game, plain and simple. He doesn't try to show up opponents, and his play proves that he doesn't disrespect the game on the field. Sorry, but I just don't see anything wrong with that. The No Fun League needs to loosen up a little bit.

Seeing Brett Favre jump into Jennings arms after breaking Marino's record... THAT was fun. seeing Romo run after a missed snap for 30 yards, then break it back for a four yard gain... THAT was fun. seeing him score the touchdown, place the ball on the ground, pump his fist in the air with childlike exuberance... THAT was fun.

Seeing CJ spend five fucking minutes to proclaim himself a future hall of famer... THAT was punk. He doesn't disrespect the game, but he's a classless douche.

See, I guess I'm a no fun kind of guy. I derive my enjoyment from watching the competition on the field. Not a competition in the end zone to see who can look like the biggest braying jackass.

I cringe every time T.O. scores wondering if he's going to be a dick dribble. I don't lean towards the end of my seat wondering what he's going to do to give me enjoyment. He just fucking did it. See, I like seeing the scoreboard light up, not stupid fucking selfish displays of "look-at-me". Do a little dance. Bust out the icky shuffle. Do the California quake. Cool. Not an issue. Don a jacket, break out a celly or a sharpie and you're being a douchenozzle.

I'm okay with the vast majority of CJ's shenanigans. Him talking to coach camcorder is one instance where I wasn't cool with it. On the bright side many people weren't cool with it either, including CJ's JUCO coach and mentor who ripped into him for that stunt. But for the most part what CJ does is either simply in the spirit of having fun or to motivate himself. He knows that when he puts the spotlight on him he better produce or else he'll hear about it. And he's a very professional player and understands the dynamics of the game. After his HOF jacket stunt he acknowledged that without a SB ring all his numbers won't mean squat and he won't ever be putting on a legit HOF jacket.

Belichick thinks very highly of Johnson. He spoke glowingly of him before last year's game and I guess they also had some man-love bonding during last year's Pro Bowl. I am fairly certain he's the only player in the NFL who the coach calls by his first name, including his own players. It's always, "Brady" or "Bruschi" or whoever. I usually despise players who call attention to themselves, but it's different with # 85. I do NOT believe he does what he does because he's full of himself. I think he just likes talking smack and genuinely wants to make people laugh. He always does his ridiculous antics with a smile on his face. I honestly believe he just loves the game. Bottom line... I'd want him on my team on any given Sunday.

I think he just likes talking smack and genuinely wants to make people laugh. He always does his ridiculous antics with a smile on his face. I honestly believe he just loves the game. Bottom line... I'd want him on my team on any given Sunday.
