When did tOSU did decide to switch to the NexTurf? Was it the fact the Michigan game last year had such horrid field conditions that they decided to go that route? I haven't really watched much of the Buckeyes when they were at home this season so I haven't heard the back story on the new playing surface at the 'Shoe...I've only noticed it in highlights. That team last year would've been scary on the faster track...the bad field in the game probably kept Michigan in it because it neutralized the Buckeye's speed.
Shoalzie, ever since tOSU lowered the field before the 2001 season the turf management crew has had a lot of trouble keeping the field in good condition. I don't know much about the ag side of things, but I am pretty sure that grass needs sunlight, even during the late fall months. With the field being lowered and more stands being added to the outside ('01), I know the field was not getting its share. I'm sure there were drainage problems as well. Don't know if you know, but before the tOSU-UM game last year, they had to replace all the natural grass on the field two weeks prior to the game. Just too much trouble.
BTW, I will be in C-bus tomorrow for the MSU game. I will try to get some pics as well. For some reason, I think this is going to be a close game.
