They grow some bigazz lemmings in Washington

Post by Dinsdale »

MANSON, Wash. - A Chelan County fire chief says a couple was lucky they weren't killed by a cow that fell off a cliff and smashed their minivan.

District 5 Chief Arnold Baker says they missed being killed by a matter of inches Sunday as they drove on Highway 150 near Manson.

The 600-pound cow fell about 200 feet and landed on the hood of the minivan carrying Charles Everson Jr. and his wife Linda of Westland, Mich., who were in the area celebrating their one-year wedding anniversary. They were checked at Lake Chelan Community Hospital as a precaution.

The van was heavily damaged, including a broken windshield.

Charles Everson says he kept repeating, "I don't believe this. I don't believe this."

The year-old cow had been reported missing by a breeder. It was euthanized at the scene.

File that one under "Well now, there's something you don't see every day."

I'm guessing the liberal-transplant-city-slickers are already proposing solutions to this "crisis."

I have to admit, when I first saw this title, before I opened the thread, I was expecting a political thread.

It's a thinley-veiled one.

In Washington, where no one in the urban areas is actually from Washington, the liberal do-gooders are pretty quick to propose a tax increase to deal with such things as cows falling from cliffs. Hell, Vancouver/Clark County proposed a "meth tax," which was a sales-tax increase to "fight meth"(whatever the hell that means). That was pretty funny to those of us on The Proper Side of the Creek.

If you want to "tax meth," you need to put a tax on scrap metal outfits, not Average Joe (although in Spuncouver, Average Joe is a tweeker, so I guess it all works out).

"Meth Tax"... funny shit.

600LBs falling 200 feet and accelerating at 9.8 m/sec squared? Force = mass * acceleration and...and...e = mass * the speed of light squared and...fuck it, it was going FAST...and it survived? I don't care if they had to put it down, the fact that it wasn't dead on impact is amazing. RACK that bovine.

I think sir issac had more to do with that cow's demise than a minivan. I'm pretty sure that hitting damn near anything other than one of them giant ballons that stuntmen fall into is gonna be pretty much fatal from that height.

Usually you don't see beef fall that fast unless the "sell by" date is tomorrow.
