Hold the Mayo

Post by Shine »

Ego-maniac OJ Mayo put up a solid personal stat line in his first collegiate game, if of course you overlook the 7 TO's and the teams 15 point loss to Mercer. Of all the touted frosh coming into CBB this year Mayo is at the bottom of my list. He is a ball hogging PG with an attitude. Give me Derrick Rose, Eric Gordon, Kevin Love, Michael Beasley, Kyle Singler, and more over this pompous douche.

"We fully expect our student-athletes to accept the responsibilities academically, athletically and socially that come with representing one of the top programs in college basketball history."

He's a one-and-doner that wants to maximize his earnings by showcasing his talents....

Too bad for SuC that that is all he wants to do....

I'm pretty sure K-Love is gone after this year, but his play reflects team.......

Ditto Eric Gordon at IU.

Lost in the hype of his freshman debut record 33 points last night is this. The Mocs had a little 5'9 PG (Bridgewaters) that was tearing up the IU defense to the tune of 14 first half points as IU trailed by 4 at half. To start the second half EJ (Eric Gordon Jr) got the defensive assignment on Bridgewaters and when the game was over the final points total for Bridegwaters read 14. EJ is an amazing on the ball defender for a freshman. His off the ball D still needs work but his defensive game shouldn't be overlooked because of his impressive offensive game.

33 points on 15 shots with 2 TO's >>> 32 points on 27 shots with 8 TO's

What's even more fucked up about Mayo's opening game is that he only had 20 points, on 8-20 shooting and 1-7 on threes, with about 3 minutes to play in that game.

Dude felt the need to pad his stats in garbage time and, with Mercer up by 16 points at that time, they just let him "get hot" so he could add some numbers to his NBA resume.

Hell he only went to USC because he wanted to get exposure on the left coast. He's a POS.

POS / USC - redundant

This guy has done practically nothing on the college level and ESPN is already featuring him on their E60 show. Can't ESPN wait till he actually achieves something?

I'm no OJ Mayo fan, but the guy has actually impressed me the three games I've seen him play. He takes too many poor shots, he obviously has a VERY green light to shoot. But from what I've seen he plays hard on both ends of the floor. He seems to play good, aggressive defense (something the Trojan team as a whole does quite well), he's willing to rebound and he has shown a willingness to pass. His ego may be a bit over-the-top but I think if he can be coached regarding shot selection he's gonna be a damn good player. He has a great looking shot and is obviously very athletic. Hell, any school in the country would have welcomed him to their program. Who cares if called USC, I mean I can think of worse things to do.

I was prepared to really despise this guy and his game, but so far I've been relatively impressed with his game. Color me contrarian tonight.

Two can play that game.

OJ who?

Mook, the only players I want to see you propping play on a home court that has this GIANT fucking logo that (almost) stretches sideline to sideline and from top of the key to top of the key.

Those fuckers are pretty damn good, just as I knew they'd be returning all those players and Rush. Freaking scary good. Final Four good.

If you're not going to drop in here and beat your chest, guess I'll have to do it for you, no matter how distasteful that may be.
I hate sigs. But I lost a stupid fucking bet because a KC Paul lookalike and his sorry ass team were inferior to the greatness that is the Pittsburg Steelers.

I'm fairly certain that this entire post is cited somewhere in the Book of Revelations!!!

But yes, I agree the team with the gigantic logo looks pretty good this year!
