Happy Thanksgiving
I'm off to Colorado for 5 days of internet exile. Happy Turkey Day to all of you guys (even the Husker fans). Hope you all have a wonderful holiday weekend and reach your destinations safely. Eat, drink, and watch football, my friends. See you fuckers on Monday.

Looking forward to feasting with the family and the turkey leftovers through the weekend...and the football that go with it.
“Hey! You scratched my anchor!”
I'm going to dinner with my "adopted family."
The Matriarch of said family is a Jewish over-the-top Kal fan (and grad).
I hope the entire dinner isn't spent explaining how Kal beat Tennessee, who beat somebody or another, meaning Kal won the MNC. And if she clears off the dinner table and rolls out a pic of the Golden Gate which extends past both ends of the table, I'm going to scream out "shut up you ren-faire geek," and storm out.

Can you explain that some? Just curious.
Since you're curious, although I'm not sure why anyone would give a poo(I only posted it to make the M2/Kal joke)...
What little family I have is either estranged, or lives a very long way from here. So the maternal instincts of some of my old friends' mothers kicks in, and they fight over who I go eat holiday meals with.
It's nice to be wanted, but it's kind of messed up a tradition me and a couple of other no-family motherfucks had going for a few years, which was to get in a round of golf on Thanksgiving and Christmas (or sometimes Christmas Eve), rain, shine, or whatever.

The fact that your family members either shun you, or move far away could be telling. Just sayin’.

Seems more likely that Dins moved far away from them if that is the case.Goober McTuber wrote:The fact that your family members either shun you, or move far away could be telling. Just sayin’.

Sounds like you'll be sampling a little aged stuffing this year.
Happy Turkey day, turkeys.

I live in the same area I was born in. One sibling is kinda nuts, and she kinda isolated her (very large) family after getting remarried(although she only lives about 25 miles from me). Other sister spent years in the service, and decided she wanted to live where it was hot... so San Antonio it was(she's been there almost 20 years now). The folks moved back to the country where they came from, since they're about a million years old, and though they would be better taken care of and less of a burden on their kids if they moved back (I didn't agree, but supported the decision).OUMO wrote:Seems more likely that Dins moved far away from them if that is the case.Goober McTuber wrote:The fact that your family members either shun you, or move far away could be telling. Leaves my holidays open for fishing and golf... not such a bad gig... until word got out, and I get the bleeding-heart moms feeling sorry for me and insisting I come over for dinner. I've gotten pretty good at getting out of Christmas with "I appreciate the offer, but I'm not Christian, so I don't celebrate Christian holidays"... although the "non-Christian" defense doesn't work nearly so well for getting out of Christmas at my adopted Jewish family's house... I get "nice try -- we're Jewish atheists, and we're having Christmas... see you at 4:00PM."
