How do you respond to Dins argument for Hawaii? Shouldn't they be ranked right there with KU? Degenerate? What do you say?

I've thrown in the caviat with Kansas several times when I talk about them...they're a BCS conference team. I don't ignore that fact. To go unbeaten in the Big West or MAC or WAC or Sun Belt isn't the same as going unbeaten out of the Big XII or SEC or ACC. Hawaii being unbeaten is like if any BCS conference team played an entire season of soft non-conference games and went unbeaten. Kansas at least went through a BCS conference regular season and still sit undefeated.

Hell, if you want to talk about Hawaii having a fraud season...they won't play their toughest game until tonight...kind of like what Kansas has with Missouri tomorrow. However, Kansas played better teams than what Hawaii has played this year.

Oh... I must have missed all of those threads you posted claiming Hawaii should be in the Bowl With No Name.

Oh, wait... you never did that. Why? Wasn't Hawaii's schedule tough enough for you?

See the post above...with Hawaii's schedule, there isn't enough drugs in the world to take that would convince me they deserve a shot at the title over another BCS conference team.

Still waiting for a retort from my Oregon-Cal comment...

No way. Let's say USC doesn't lose, Booty doesn't get hurt and he has the kind of year he's having. There's no way in hell he wins that thing. Booty is an average QB.

Huh?

Wanna link that up?

Tard -- I'm quite sure the example you're thinking of doesn't say what you think it does.

The posts I'm sure you're referring to did no such thing -- they were what's known as an "example," and that example was used to point out how completely fucking idiotic the Mizzou/KU tards were being... which was semi-understandable, I suppose, because asking those people to act like their team had won more than 8 games in a season before was asking a lot.

Matter of fact, you just did the same thing yourself(although I'm sure you were too busy crafting your next clever "WHAAAAAA!!!!! WE NEED A PLAYOFF SO KANSAS CAN SCHEDULE EVEN EASIER" post to notice).

Uhm, tard -- if KU/Mizzou wins out... OU isn't top ten. I'm not sure how many times you need this explained to you, but maybe you could make it a point o not be such a fucking retard BEFORE you post, rather than just relying on everyone else to point out your stupidity after the fact.

ARE WE JUDGING OPPONENTS BASED ON THEIR RANKING AT THE TIME, OR YEAR END RANKING????

It's an either/or proposition. Can't have it both ways. If it's the latter, then shut the ever living fuck up already. OU isn't going to be top ten if they lose to KU/Mizzou. So why don't you give that stupidity a rest?

If it's the former -- get the fuck out of here. I'll take Oregon or USC if that's indeed the case. KU and Mizzou played how many teams that were ranked at the time? Without looking it up, I wanna say... what, ONE between them? And they went oh-fer in it? If we use the "when we beat them" standard, then KU and/or Mizzou should be playing whatever bowl game they make it to no later than december 18th.

But feel free to pick one system of subjective comparison or the other -- the "mix and match to suit my whining needs" thing is going about as well for you as it did for B12 tard.

I like Troy. Nice team they've got there. I can see why you'd be impressed, since they're leading a conference with a team that was responsible for Tuscaloosa's own little Pearl Harbor last week.

It's weird enough you SEC honks live vicariously through the team that happens to be leading your league. Now you're doing it to the leaders of a conference whose bottom feeder clowned Alabama last weeek?

If they beat MU and OU then they DO deserve to play for a title. Period.

Living vicariously? Because I wanted to see an SEC team in the NC game? No, I was an LSU fan as a kid living in Mobile. So they've always been my 2nd team in the conference. And yeah, it woulda been cool to see them get to the title game.

Please don't make me relive the La-Mo debacle. The disaster. The most horrible event to befall me in my lifetime. The deaths of my parents were tough, but nothing compared to that loss.
I guess I don't get this. (Not that there's anything wrong with it.) I've never had a "2nd team" in the Pac 10, or the Pac 8 back in the day.

Come on Greg, when OhioSt has two or three losses I just start pulling for UM or PSU or MSU because they have always been my 2nd team(s). I grew up loving Minnesota, Iowa, and Illinois so I always root for them too.

Ok, ok. I'm going to have to admit to having 3 teams I pulled for growing up. I've added a couple since then.

1. USC
2. Whoever is playing ND.
3. Whoever is playing UCLA.

I've since added...

4. Whoever is playing BYU.
5. Whoever is playing Cal.

You mean back when Kal was the #2 team in the country... back before they lost their Jr QB who they had bet the farm on and replaced him with a freshman, and back before DeSean Jackson decided to take the rest of the season off?

Cal was the #2 in the country when the played, like you said but what does that mean now? That's like saying App State beat a top 5 this year when Michigan never resembled a top 5 this year...they were ranked top 5 when they played but proved to not be worthy that ranking. After Cal beat Oregon, they went from a top 2 team to being unranked within several weeks.

Longshore missed one game all season...you can't blame the one game he misses against Oregon State for the next 4 losses they racked up. As for Jackson, he had a bad game against the Beavers but he scored 3 touchdowns in the next two losses against UCLA and Arizona State...clearly, he took those two games off, right?

To play a team that is #2 right now means a helluva lot more than playing a team that was #2 back in Week 5 of the season. The Ducks lost to Cal when they were at their best this year but if they faced off now, the Ducks would blow them away. You caught them at the wrong time but the bottom line, they lost to a team that is now 6-5.

I never openly root for any other team.

If the cards fall right and OSU makes it to the MNC game, I will quietly pull for them, even though their fans (not the guys in here) are unbearable in victory.

I don't root for other teams...I just like to see entertaining games and we've seen a lot of those this year. When an underdog is winning, I'll pull for the upset. I do like to see Ohio State, Michigan State and Notre Dame lose as well if hope is gone for Michigan to play for anything meaningful. If Michigan isn't going to win it all, I don't want to see their biggest rivals win it either. I never understood why you root for your rivals in the same conference in the bowl season after you spent the entire year trying to tear them apart. The Big Ten can go winless in the bowl games for all I care. I'm a Michigan fan, not a Big Ten fan.

OK, maybe if I type reeeeallllly slowly...

I wasn't defending Oregon's loss to Kal in any way, shape, or form.

OK, I'm typing really , really slowly now...

I was shotting holes in the unbelievable pile of crap Mizzou/KU fan was throwing out there -- that being that they'll have beaten two top 5/10 teams, should either team win out.

Here, I'll explain this again, for really stupid people and schotzie... but I repeat myself...

It was what's known as an "example." I used the Oregon loss to Kal because Kal was ranked highly at the time. Yet the fans of the B12 bottom-dwellers dismissed that loss as "well, they're not ranked NOW... but we'll have beaten two top-5 teams!"

See the problem with that logic, or are you really this dumb?

I was merely pointing out that the "we should be ranked higher than Oregon, because Oregon lost to a team that isn't CURRENTLY ranked, but rankings at the end of the season don't matter when it comes to evaluating OUR team... it only applies to ranking OTHER teams."

See the problem, dumbshit?

And see why you look so pathetically stupid claiming I was "defending Oregon's loss"? I was using it as an example... which was pretty relevant at the time, since Oregon was the team that the two-faced tards were using such fatally flawed logic as to why their respective teams should leapfrog them. That point has since been rendered moot, as will at least a few other points made on the the subject in the next couple of weeks.

What is it with you Michigan people and misrepresenting other people's posts? I seem to remember one that recieved particular acclaim and a subsequent banning for being just such a tard.

Considering how many different teams have been in the top 5 this year and how only Oregon out of the current the top 10 have beaten a (then ranked) top 5 team. There have been 12 different teams in the top 5 that lost this year...Oklahoma and LSU have lost twice as top 5 teams. Here's a complete list of teams that have beaten (then ranked) top 5 team based on ESPN's rankings:

Week 1: Appalachian State over #5 Michigan
Week 5: Colorado over #3 Oklahoma
Week 5: Auburn over #4 Florida
Week 6: Stanford over #1 USC
Week 6: Illinois over #5 Wisconsin
Week 7: Kentucky over #1 LSU
Week 8: Oregon State over #2 California
Week 9: Rutgers over #2 South Florida
Week 10: Florida State over #2 Boston College
Week 10: #5 Oregon over #4 Arizona State
Week 11: Illinois over #1 Ohio State
Week 12: Arizona over #2 Oregon
Week 13: Texas Tech over #4 Oklahoma
Week 14: Arkansas over #1 LSU

From that list, Illinois has 2 wins over (then ranked) top 5 teams and it's a team that Missouri has beaten. Stanford, Colorado, Arizona and Oregon State have more top 5 wins than any over the current top 5 teams combined. Missouri and Kansas will have the opportunity to post a top 5 win tonight. You have to give whichever team that wins tonight in Kansas City credit for a quality win in spite of the rest of their schedule when you consider teams much worse than them have beaten top 5 teams earlier in the season.
