greetings from the center of the universe

Post by smackaholic »

i am typing this from a puter terminal at the USO right down the street from times square.

once or twice a year, the family and i roam around the big city. it certainly is a nice place to visit. actually, interesting is a better word. THE city is anything but nice. we parked at the end of the 1 train, van cortland park.

our trip was not more than 3 train stops old before the entertainment began. out of the corner of my eye (and nostrils) i saw/smelled a genuine NYC bum barrel roll onto the car. yup, he fukkin barrel rolled right across, smacking into the opposite door. he huddled there for a stop or two, before rolling back across and jamming himself into the door as it attempted to close. from the looks of it, nyc subway doors are pretty strong. it eventually spit him out, rather than back in, thank gawd.

well, gotta run.

i fukkin hate pidgeons.

was walking along the sidewalk somewhere in the times square area when i feel a drop of rain right in the middle of my dome....on a bright sunny cold day! I look up and notice that that i am directly below the edge of a buildings overhang. that overhang was lined up with a bunch of winged rats.

fukk this place.

it was a pretty uneventful day overall. the entire island of manhattan is pretty much like walmart on black friday. it was wayyyy too crowded. the only worthwhile moment of the day was the rolling bum. other than that, the place was remarkedly free of it's charming street people. and let's face it, the most fun part of walking around new york is the human freak show.

doubt i'll be doing another day in the city during the shopping season anytime soon. and next time i'm wearing my fukking sox cap for protection. it might get me a beating from disgruntled yankme fans, but, it'll help with the flying rats.

can't argue with you there tod. boston has it's share of suck. and brocton has got to be one of the most depressing shitholes, outside of upstate ny, which pretty much invented rundown hasbeen shithole towns, that i have ever had the displeasure of being in.

couldn't imagine living anywhere near ny or bahstun. that's the nice thing about living in ct. you are close enough to visit either, but, far enough away to not be directly impacted by their arsehole residents.

Give me a fucking break. There isn't a town in Upstate that is more run down, bankrupt and dangerous than Bridgeport. And New Haven ain't far behind. Clean up your own shitholes before you bust on Upstate.

you forgot hartford, new britain, waterbury..... Yeah, we have our shithole cities where we keep our brown folk, but, they are surrounded by really nice suburbs with gainfully employed folks...for now, anyway. Upstate is different. You got rundown shithole has been milltowns surrounded by well, a farm or two, a few apple orchards and, uhhh, not much really. We have a few smal towns in the eastern end of the state that sorta fit that description, but, due to the fact that ct is about 5 miles by 10 miles, even those areas are becoming suburbs of providence.

20 years from now, who knows? I plan on getting the fukk out after my kids are done with school.
