Reggie Brooks had some amazing runs for the golden domers. He was my favorite college player growing up. They showed this run on one of those "Best Damn..." shows tonight. Still one of the better runs in CFB history. Brooks was a baller.

Greg Jones was a beast before he tore his knee up. His hit on Reod was legendary. He trucked sean taylor in the Orange Bowl but now isnt the right time.

That's awesome that you brought up Reggie Brooks. One of the guys that missed a tackle on that run is now the DC for ND.

My favorite growing up was Rocket Ismail. Talk about clutch, that guy had his best games at the biggest times.

All those years, all of that program-building, all of that money... and some freshman scrub DB came in and put the program on the map.

Damon Huard should be thankful -- his name will live on forever. Hell, his video is shown in the Oregon Sports Hall of Fame. Cheated his team out of a shot at the championship, maybe(although some CORN FED STUDS had a decent year, too).

that would have been pretty great, but it never happened. Mildren was a SR in 71, Pruitt a SR in 72, Peacock a FR in 74 and King a FR in 75.

now, the 1978 JC Watts, Kenny King, Billy Sims, David Overstreet backfield....that was something. and year or two before that you had a Peacock, King, Sims, Thomas Lott backfield. Pruitt and Joe Washington shared a backfield as well, but Pruitt was the guy then.

and just to t'row out some props, for faves i'll go Kevin Murphy who was an absolute freak at the standup D end in the old Okie 5-2 defense and Steve Rhodes...who seemed to make a HUGE play in every big game from 76-80. war slow white guys with porn staches.

What year did Johnny Rogers run back that punt vs Oklahoma? Thanksgiving Day 197????? That was one hell of a game........

That name is kind of a dirty word around here for the sportsbuffs.

After he retired, he opened a car dealership in Vancouver(right across the Creek, but don't you freaking dare call it a "Portland suburb"). When Colin Cowherd was doing his local show*, he tried to give dude's new dealership a free plug. He later got an angry phone call about "using my name to promote your show." You can probably take a guess how that battle-of-wits turned out -- dude got lit up like nobody's business, and it concluded with something like "Oh, don't worry, Kurt -- your name will never be mentioned on this show ever again. Matter of fact, you will no longer be eligible to even advertise on this station." * -- Sidenote... you guys may crack on Cowherd, but things were different in the local days. He had a rule -- no matter what time of year, there was a minimum requirement of at least 60 seconds of college football talk on each and every show, but usually a lot more. Didn't matter if dude had a big-name guest on the phone for the last segment of the show -- he'd cut them off at least a minute before the end of the show to meet the college football talk requirement. Pretty darn RACKable, if you ask me. And anyone who grew up a Duck's honk living in Husky Country and attending Eastern Washington is cool in my book... although I notice he keeps the Ducks-honk thing under wraps on the national show.

Joe Montana. Yeah, he struggled just to stay #1 on the depth chart, but that was due mainly to bad coaching decisions. And he was always at his best at clutch time.

Even when I was 13, I could see that he had that something special you can't quite put your finger on that would make him one of the all-time greats.

I remember seeing Barry sanders run all over Mizzou in the late 80's - One of the bowl games he had 5 TDs - just fucking amazing

Bo was playing at Auburn while I was still in HS - so didn't see him as much.
His runs were different, not great cutbacks - but just all out power and speed.
When he turned the corner, it just looked like everyone else was in slo-mo
