Florida State names Head Coach
Don't know what to think about that? Jimbo Fisher named head coach in waiting yesterday....
I am hoping to see a lot more from the offense next year...if he is good enough to be named head coach in waiting....we should see a drastic improvement on the field next year. If we don't, we could be fucked for another 10 years.
Love the move from a recruiting aspect, no longer can coaches negative recruit against FSU by saying Bobby will retire after this year and then you wont know who your coach is....

Chief, both parties have an escape clause where they will have to shell out over 2 mill to the other if they don't live up to the" arrangement".
True we were 7-5 this year but I think alot of what Jimbo and crew did was stop the bleeding this year. Could you have imagined what the record would have been had not a change been made with this years schedule?
The O showed graduall improvement over the season. Remember how they lloked against Clemson? Play calling and game planing were greatly improved. Keep in mind that we had a bunch of left over cunts impersionating O lineman, excluding Hudson and the left side which will be good under Tricket when they grow up.
This was the best play for right now. I would have hated to see someone hire Fisher away as a head coach. That would have really set the rebuilding back big time. Trust me, it is going to be all good.
Now, take that new bride out and go cut down a nice tebow tree.

Trixmonkey, I know you have a hard time grasping this but it is true that not EVERYTHING is about stats. For example, Tebow had sick stats this year, winning him the H. However, UF is NOT SEC champ or playing in a BCS bowl.

Call me what you will but LOOK...open your damn eyes....as O Coordinator for LSU and FSU over the past two years....his offenses haven't really done that well.
UF's defense this year was pretty bad.....12 points? What'd LSU score on UF LAST YEAR? Ten?
Look at some of the other scores and maybe just maybe you might see my point.
If not.....doesn't matter. You are stuck with him!!!!!!!

The Fisher-move is definitely smart in terms of recruiting. Lets kids know who'll they'll be playing for.
Though I do admit I don't understand the love-affair with Fisher. LSU's O seems to have gotten better with the move to Crowton at OC, even with Russell gone.
I'm sure you know more about him than me. I know he is supposed to be quality and was a hot-name in the coaching rumor-mill. But I can't say what I've seen from his O's has wowed me, seemed solid but nothing special. Ya he is definitely an upgrade from Jeff Bowden but a lot of guys would be.
I hope he works-out for you guys. IMO Bobby should quit thinking of FSU as "his" and step-aside now for the good of the program. It has been six-years now of several-loss seasons, he isn't likely to get FSU back on-top before he finally retires. If Fisher is the guy give him the keys and let him drive.

Fisher brings the "it" factor. He probably isn't in the top 5 of OC in the country. But he has the juice. He brings energy which infects both players and staff. He is young, recruits like a mother, and has definiately raised the level of what is expected of a kid when he pulls on the garnett. He also brings the qb coach component. Hell he got Weatherford,a sub average qb, to go the entire season with only 1 turn over.
As head coach I think he will bring in a good oc and work well with them.
I think its important to keep in mind that FSU has been circling the drain since 2000. You just don't pull out of a tail spin over night. Give him a few years, Tebow leaves UF, and FSU will be back to owning the State.
BTW, I for one look forward to having a head coach who can remember where he parked his car.

florida lost three games in a year where championship-caliber teams lost two. they're not as far off the pace as they were around mid-season.Nolesy wrote:Trixmonkey, I know you have a hard time grasping this but it is true that not EVERYTHING is about stats. Uhhhh....ever hear of Bo Pelini.....???????Jsc810 wrote:Last year, his offense was good enough for LSU to finish #3 in the country. Not as good as Florida, granted, but still a very respectable season. Just sayin.T REX wrote:....as O Coordinator for LSU and FSU over the past two years....his offenses haven't really done that well.

We've owned you before Tebow and will so after.....Nolesy wrote: Tebow leaves UF, and FSU will be back to owning the State.
Jimbo's scoring vs Auburn? Three whole points, ten vs UF, 28 vs UT, 20 vs ole Miss, etc
They scored gonzo vs crap teams and struggled vs tough teams.
Bo Pelini is the guy who should be commended.

So by your own logic, we should wait to see who the new offensive coordinator is, and how many points "his" offense puts up, before we can decide if Jimbo is a good head coach?T REX wrote:We've owned you before Tebow and will so after.....Nolesy wrote: Tebow leaves UF, and FSU will be back to owning the State.

No...my logic is that some of you think he's a good hire because of his "offensive" coordinating.
If I'm not mistaken, Miles took away his play calling duties last year.
yeah, great hire.

Well if I'm not mistaken I believe I said I would like to see more from him before deciding if I think it was a good hire and Nolsey is on record in this thread stating that he DOES NOT believe he is a "top 5 OC" in D1 football today...so again, not sure where you or your logic is coming from???T REX wrote:No...my logic is that some of you think he's a good hire because of his "offensive" coordinating.

I think you are mad cause Nolsey calls you trixmonkey and bucrexie....
I agree. I think the move was great in that it will keep FSU's Top 5 Recruiting class in tact. Fisher is a leader, a great recruiter and a great motivator. I think as a Coordinator he can be conservative, but he demands toughness and accountability from his players and that is why I think he will be a good coach. Cameron and Turner are great OC's but shitty HCs. I think Jimbo is a great QB coach and very good OC, but I just have a feeling that he is going to be a successful HC.Nolesy wrote:Fisher brings the "it" factor. I dont think he is Overrated as he is highly respected in the coaching game and if FSU didnt snag him, he would have surely been some other program's HC in the next 2-3 years. I would hate to go thru what Michigan and Arkansas are going thru right now.

Again let me echo that I am glad that he will become the HEAD COACH. I never sold him as a great OC but I do pimp him as a great COACH, mostly for the reasons pointed out by crown.
I see him as smart enough to bring in a great OC when needed and not being threatened by said OC's ability/ record.
I love the way he meets the O 5-7 yards on the field as they are heading to the side lines to start coaching them up. He's good in game and all about getting the most out of what he has.
True I don't have any "stats" but he is the best play for FSU.
BTW Bucrexie, what is this fixation you seem to have with other teams coaches? Is it the Weis syndrome or are you trying to sort out your own identity by emulating male role models?
