Isles suspend Simon after stomping on Ruttu's skate
Suspension #7 coming up for Chris Simon and this time Isles owner Wang Chung suspends him and orders him to attend counseling. Like it is going to make a difference for a useless thug like Simon. The only reason he still has an NHL job is because Nolan and Simon are part of the same Indian tribe.
Simon gets 30 games...

I don't think any other player would've gotten this much for what he did but being a repeat offender clearly came into play. Campbell referenced that previous suspensions haven't served as good a deterent for him...gotta keep throwing big suspensions at him until he gets the message or until he just leaves the NHL for good.

I've seen replays of what he did to Ruutu and frankly, 30 games is too much for the act itself. If you want to suspend him for his repeated offenses, I can understand why someone believes it should be longer. The guy is proving to be a danger to other players on the ice. He's not just an enforcer, he goes and deliberately tries to hurt other players which crosses the line of the "tough guy code".

30 games is too much for that?
So if Simon had landed that skate a few inches higher and caused severe damage to Ruutu's ankle, then what? The guy is lucky that Sion only hit his skate.
The act was one of the pussiest moves ever, and there have been plenty in the NHL. Kicking a player while he is lying on the ice is about as chicken shit as you can get.

Dreams......Temporary Madness
Agreed. Its not like he was in a brawl with the guy....he was leaving the ice for shits sake. While I'd love to see Ruutu out of comission I wouldn't want to see him with a slashed leg. It could have been worse for sure but penalizing merely on the result of bad behaviour is exactly what the league should be avoiding and going ahead with more of "penalizing action" type of thing.MuchoBulls wrote: The act was one of the pussiest moves ever, and there have been plenty in the NHL. Hopefully Simon won't be back.
