What are these "Bowl Games" of which you all speak?

Post by Killian »

Around this time of year, many of you come to this board and begin talking about some type of game that takes place long after the season is over, and sometimes, not at all. You write as if they are extreemly important games that teams are actually supposed to play in and even win.

Notre Dame, like the good christians they are, pays no attention to this mantra and either does not participate, either physically or mentaly.

Most of Notre Dame's incomming class are participating in one of the three High School All American Bowls. Luckily for some of them, they will get the chance to experience what players from 89 other teams have since Jan 1st, 1994.

Pictured below are Notre Dame fans awaiting the 2008 season while Kevin White looks on:

I suppose it could be worse, Killian. At least in a way.

Had we gone 7-5 instead of 3-9, no doubt we would've been selected for one of the various Toilet Bowls to which ND does not aspire. And we would've been expected to go, and act like we were excited to be there.

And before I get piled on, I'm not saying that 3-9 is a better result than 7-5. I'm just saying that we were spared one of the potential problems we could have endured this season, given ND's history with bowl games, or lack thereof.

We've heard this before, Terry - that ND was too good to go to a lower tier bowel game. I must admit though, I'm happier seeing PSU win a "lesser" bowl than staying home.

I feel for you guys, the "postseason" has been a vale of tears for Domer fans for years.

Yep, that's what I was referring to, Sam, albeit somewhat obliquely. And for the record, I'm almost old enough to remember that time, or at least the tail end of it. Almost.

Many ND fans would, if they could, gladly go back to the days when college football had only five bowl games, and Notre Dame, by choice, never played in any of them.

Huh? You don't know what Bowl Games are? What a tard.

They're these games you play right before Christmas or New Year in places like El Paso and Las Vegas... sometimes San Diego, if you do reeealllly well.

Bowl games? Oh, that's that really cool time once a year where we get to board these big metal birds that that go up really high in the sky. We doze off and take a nap, and next thing we know we're in a whole 'nother state. It's wild!
