Re: RACK the Goose!!!
To fuck with Rice, Andre Dawson got screwed.. if anyone was deserving of a trip to Cooperstown, he is. Especially since Kirby Puckett is in and the Hawk had better numbers than Puckett.
But I'm glad Goose got the ticket, he deserved it.

Re: RACK the Goose!!!
heres how the voting broke down. i agree rice and perhaps dawson should get a look. but how the fuck does travis fryman or chuck finley even get votes? i guess if i had a vote i would put in gorman thomas and ben ogilvie and don money and cecil cooper and vocovich and higuera . travis fryman?? its not just one vote. he had two retard put his name in. i believe rice only needed like 15 more votes.

Re: RACK the Goose!!!
Let's compare then:
Dawson did have eight Gold Gloves.
Pucket had 6 Gold Gloves.
The Hawk hit 438 homers (more than Joe Di...) while playing a number of years in that air dead cavern called the Big O in Montreal
Puckett smacked out 207 in the Metro err bubbledome
Dawson had 2,774 hits and 1,591 RBIs.
Puckett, 2304 hits and 1085 RBI's
Don't forget the 314 steals for Dawson compared to Puckett's amazing feat of 134 steals.
Dawson won the National League MVP once and finished second in the voting twice.
Puckett, well he did win an MVP award for the AL... in the all star game.
Behind Willie Mays and Bobby Bonds, the Hawk was the next guy in the 300-300 club (homers and steals).
There's more to Cooperstown than just WS rings...
MOST HOME RUNS (1976-96)
Eddie Murray* 501
Mike Schmidt* 455
Andre Dawson 438
Dave Winfield* 427
*Member of the Baseball Hall of Fame.
MOST RBIs (1976-96)
Eddie Murray* 1,899
Dave Winfield* 1,670
Andre Dawson 1,591
George Brett* 1,459
Cal Ripken Jr.* 1,369
*Member of the Baseball Hall of Fame.
Oh did I mention, Dawson had more hits than Teddy Ballgame?

Re: RACK the Goose!!!
Who gave Chuck Knoblauch and Shawon Dunston a vote? That made me chuckle.

You're kidding. You mean he played for the Yankees too?
Honestly, sometimes you remind me of my 15 year old son...when he was about 11.
Here's my 1984 game hat (it was also worn at the 2007 HOF induction in C-town).
They used to give those buttons out every time Goose got a save.

No he has 1 year left and he's probably going to get in per most articles I've read.

Re: RACK the Goose!!!
Rice got 72% of the vote this year. To date, nobody who has polled over 70% has failed to make the Hall at a later date. Then again, it's not like the writers have been very open with the Hall gates lately. so maybe Rice will have to wait for the Veterans Committee.jiminphilly wrote:No he has 1 year left and he's probably going to get in per most articles I've read.
Oh, and rack Gossage. He was the most intimidating pitcher I've ever seen.

Bri asked about next year. I said It's his last year of eligibility. So we agree on that....

This guy wasn't intimidated by the Goose.BSmack wrote: Oh, and rack Gossage. He was the most intimidating pitcher I've ever seen.
Greatest baseball memory I have is when Brett deposited a 98 mph Gossage fastball in the 3rd deck of Yankee stadium to seal the 1980 ALCS.
But Rack Gossage nonetheless. A most worthy HoF'er.
