I've heard its down to UM and OSU. He's definately a guy who adds instant credibility to a recruiting class. The kind of guy that can help you land top wr's and rb's the next couple years. Kinda like Tebow/Harvin.
Well, I hope the performance of the hoops team has no influence on Pryor's decision.

He can come to Michigan and start this year with Mallett officially out of the picture or he can sit behind Boeckman in his senior year...I guess we'll see how anxious he is to jump in somewhere and play. He's RichRod's boy...he's gotta make this happen.
Lose him to the Buckeyes and '08 is going to be an ugly year as well as any time he faces Rodriguez and Michigan head-to-head and works them over. I consider this to be his first big test as Michigan's coach...can he bring in a prized recruit when he's heads-up with the sweater vest?

Scheduling a Pac-10 road game is progress for them but they still have two games with "compass readings" as you affectionately call them including non D-IA team in Georgia Southern...couldn't even go out of state for a lower level opponent.
A big tip of the cap to USC's schedule next year...at Virginia, vs. Ohio State and Notre Dame (assuming they are halfway decent).
On the same token, I definitely give the Buckeyes a pass for that big one with the Trojans. The other three non-conference games are bakery-worthy but you can't knock a trip to the Coliseum as your showcase game. They've got home-and-homes with Miami and Oklahoma in the comng years as well.

i wonder if pryor would actually start right away at michigan. my guess is threet would begin the season as the #1 just so michigan fans can get another look at dreisbach since his first time through passed so quickly.Shoalzie wrote:WolverineSteve wrote:Pryor is making his UM visit as we speak. who knows what variables are being considered between umich and osu - if it actually comes down to those two - but i think the balance tilts toward michigan as far as offensive philosophy goes. true, tressel can design his offense around pryor, but who can't, aside from mike debord? i think michigan has the edge there considering rr's entire coaching life is this system and not something he has to tweak so his qb can run every so often.

This is what Montana has so far in this class. Not bad for who and what we are:
http://recruiting.scout.com/a.z?s=73&p= ... 81&yr=2008
Dinsdale - have you ever heard of the two Oregon guys, Lipski and Opperud?
Any SoCal people heard of Cummings?
We also have a QB (not listed on the scouts site) Connor Lowery - looks like a good dual threat prospect. His dad is a friend of Titan's HC Jeff Fisher whose son, Brandon, is a safety at Montana so that's how we got a guy who might've gone to a I-A program but not been a starter:
http://rivals100.rivals.com/viewprospec ... _key=56295
I know these guys are afterthoughts to most of your programs, but for us they are good gets. We beat out Colorado State for Cummings; Lipski attended some of the bigger camps including the Nike camp in Eugene so he was on the radar of some larger programs, but doesn't have the experience, quickness and footwork to get that kind of offer. Down the road he could develop into a dominant force at this level, given his size. Lowery had interest from Vandy and UCF. It's nice to get them this way as opposed to dropdowns who are generally bringing baggage with them.

Re: Your Teams Recruiting
i think rebuilding is a relative term. michigan's not necessarily lacking in talent. a lot of these "gimmick" systems are installed at schools that frequently don't have the talent michigan does, and thus it takes some time to recruit players that "fit." all they'll be doing at michigan is telling fast players to block this guy instead of that one. it's more of a cerebral shift than anything. true, next year won't be a cakewalk for lots of reasons, but it's not like we're going to flounder for pryor's entire career and only find our feet afterward. plus, there's the angle that he can facilitate a traditional power's return to glory, or something like that.peter dragon wrote: and im not biased or anything ;) but why would he go to a school that is going to have to rebuild their entire team through a new coach, a new system, and a new QB... when he can come to OSU or LSU or any of the others and basicly already be on a winning team. why wait for 2-3 years to get players up to his level when he can come to a team with players already at his level.

There's the SEC, and then there's other conferences seeking validation. :P

The difference between the two conferences is that even with those shitty OOC schedules, each Pac 10 team actually has to get on a fucking plane.

GrizBearStare wrote:Dinsdale - have you ever heard of the two Oregon guys, Lipski and Opperud?
Lipski is from Down South, so us arrogant valley-dwellers don't recognize him as an Oregon player.
Opperud was from the Metro Area, but as an OL, he didn't play for Jesuit, so he doesn't get much run... that seems to be what things have come to around here as far as high school stars -- "Did he play for Jesuit? Oh, must be a 1AA guy then." Kinda sad. But dude must not get along with Mom and Dad if he chose the Griz over Portland State (or he wanted to win... something like that).
From my perspective as a casual armchair recruiting follower, this years' class just didn't have the "wow factor" of last year. Lots and lots of stars last year, but this year just didn't have that same number of really appealling recruits locally. But Oregon and Washington always seem to have their share of supersized Scandanavian-descent offensive lineman. I think a good share of the bigger-name HS players were juniors this year, if'n I'm not mistaken.

No, I don't like that teams in the south treat their OOC scheduling the same way their dating pool. They don't want anything too far away from home.

How very "special" of UM to toss the rule book right the fuck out the window to get the 5 best players and make sure they're well-paid.
Gee, I wonder if we promised Kevin Love, Kyle Singler, Michael Beasley, Eric Gordon, and Derrick Rose a fat paycheck to come play for our school, if those guys would find their way to the championship game?

I got a problem with this here. First of all it was proven that only Webber from the Fab5 took money (Granted he was the best player) and the others came later...Bullock,Taylor, Traylor etc. C-Web was a good kid. He and his family turned down 10's of thousands of dollars to send Chris to a certain High School! I'm not saying taking the money was right, but as we've said about a lot of cases in here over the years, if you were 17 or 18, could you turn down all that money?peter dragon wrote:i

The rest of the guys were never implicated.
Jalen Rose has grown into a fine man and does great things in the community...

Juwan Howard's grandmother who raised him, died the day he signed his LOI to Michigan. He was the first of the Fab5 to sign. He too has not forgotten where he came from...

C-Web has always given back. Ever since his rookie year when he started his "time-out" foundation. He chose to take a humiliating situation and make it a positive. Each city he has played in has benifitted from his generosity. His has given back way more than he ever took.
Edit to add......
Ray Jackson, never made the NBA, yet still does nice charitable work....

What an amazing spin job.
Chris Webber owes his freedom to a very timely death.
Dude would STILL be in jail today if not for that timely death.
Chris Webber violated a multitude of federal laws, as did his family.
Not only did he knowingly break the law, he then lied to officials while under oath.
How you're somehow painting this into a positive is mindboggling.

still too early to finalize for MU
Lost Compton 4 star from missouri to Nebraska he wouldn't of made depth chart next season at LB. and would of red shirt, and possibly seen the field in 2010. Depth at LB for MU. And he will probably be a FB, which Mu doesn't use.
still have 8 of top 11 in state.
Looks like Gooden from Texas commited, and a couple of late commits possible. top 25 class very attainable!

You have never been good enough at anything (save for knowitalling on a message board) to have hundreds of thousands waffed in your face. If you are the same idiot you were at 17 or 18, sorry about your luck. C-Webb is a far better person today than he was 15 years ago, if you've stagnated that's your problem. Dude has done more in terms of dollars charity wise, than your ass will ever be worth. The fact that you proport to know evrerything that has ever occured and be an expert on all things of this world gives you no worth. Give the guy a break. He took money....you most likely would have too. He has given more back, by way of charity, than he ever took. You call it spin, I call it coming correct.
It must be nice to pass judgement and to never have made mistakes. He was 17. He has given millions to those who have not. Nice trade off in the grand scheme of things. C-Webbs errors involve taking a couple/few hundred thousand, yours involve banging obese bar skanks. Chris has given back 7+ figures, you've wasted 6+figures of shit posts. There are people worthy of passing judgement on Mr. Webber....You aren't on the list.
