Again, no. I got a robo call over the weekend from Schumer (or a really good imitator) in support of Hillary. Assuming that was done with his approval, he obviously supports Hillary. Again, there's a possibility of an "olive branch" selection as running mate, but I don't think Schumer is far enough into Hillary's inner circle to accomplish this. If Obama is the choice, and decides to go this route, I think the choice would be Wes Clark.

Other possibilities:

John Edwards -- Depending on what he does, and who gets the nomination. I'm also not sure if he'd be interested in running for VP again.
James Webb -- Would probably be the frontrunner, at least in a vacuum. But a lot depends on who will be the nominee.
Bill Richardson -- I hate to play the race card, but he's probably a more likely choice if Hillary is the nominee. I'm afraid that an Obama/Richardson ticket would appear to be too ethnic for many voters.
Christopher Dodd or Joe Biden -- Possible, but unlikely. Both have safe Senate seats and reside in small states that are likely to go Democratic in the Presidential election in any event.
Al Gore -- I don't think so, but I throw his name out there only because you know some pundit will at some point, especially if Hillary is the nominee.

On the Republican side, I see McCain probably taking Huckabee. It would shore up his credentials with conservative voters, and also gives him a running mate who's considerably younger than he is. If McCain does choose a Florida governor, it's more likely to be Jeb than Crist. If Jeb's ego allows him to be the running mate, that is.

There are no conservative Republicans in the running.

What you mean to say is that there are no Republicans running who match the alleged Reagan ideal of being social, fiscal and national defense conservatives. Huckabee would help to bring social conservatives back to the fold, especially were Hillary to be nominated.

That being said, my dark horse VP for McCain is Lieberman. He's a lame duck Senator, he's already endorsed McCain, and McCain might as well make use of his maverick reputation to try to poach some Dem votes out of the Northeast.

I don't think he'll take it, but I wouldn't be shocked to see McCain try to grab Fred. They're friends and that gives him a bonafide tri-con in his camp. However, I don't think Fred has any desire to be veep.

McCain's got the nomination wrapped up. Sad to say.

I'd agree except for one thing: Reagan's idea of drug "education" (or at least his wife's) was "just say no." Hardly a liberal idea when it comes to education.

It really is time to start prosecuting and jailing members of Congress who break their oath (which for most of them, is the first day on the job). If the Constitution doesn't grant the fed a particular power -- it's unconstitutional to exercise said power -- that simple, although corporate interests make big money by getting congressmen to say "but that's not what the Constitution means," regardless of it being in black and white.

Same goes for abortion -- states' issue.

Same goes for education -- states' issue.

Same goes for almost anything the fed does these days -- completely unconstitutional... but the Constitution isn't in Big Brother's better interest, so it gets ignored.

I could see either but I really think he might go with a minority running mate regardless of Collin Powell. I'd look for Michael Steele, Condi Rice, or J.C. Watts to get some play.
