i also have a pair of tix to see nada surf at metro in chi-town the first week of april. nada surf is one of my favorite bands that i've yet to see (right up there with wolf parade), so this will be definitely be straight. i've been a big fan of the band since a former co-worker at the kzoo gazette gave me a copy of "let go" in late 04, but i've always passed over seeing the band because 1) they toured so often and 2) there were other bands i really wanted to see that didn't play so frequently (or so i rationalized). i really wish i would have seen them on the "weight is a gift tour" because my dumbass didn't give that album a decent listen until november. i thought nothing could top let go. but i was very wrong. "weight" is much like let go, but at the same time, it's even better. and i believe the next album they release in february will be good. indie power pop at its sappiest, but most addictive. i do wish the drummer was a lot better live, though. he would put that band through another dimension.
and it's going to get even better this summer. radiohead has announced cities, but not dates, and i think we'll start getting more and more summer tour dates announced in february. a return of belle and sebastian to the u.s. would be good as well as possibly hearing from the pernice brothers.
auto focus fucking sucks!!!!!!
