Props to the Missouri Valley

Post by TheJON »

Drake point guard Adam Emenecker wins MVC Player of the Year despite scoring only 8 PPG......and he was deserving of the award. When is the last player to win any conference POY award with similar stats? Usually if you have a player like Emenecker, the guy who really makes Drake's team go, they won't give him the award because of his stats. Drake has a few other guys on the team that statistically deserve the award more than he does, but he truly is the MVP of the best team in the MVC. Without him on the team, Drake wins 6-7 LESS games than they did (maybe even more). A guy that scored under 5 PPG in high school is now on a list that includes Larry Bird, Hersey Hawkins, and Xavier McDaniel. Props to Adam and props to the MVC for giving the award to the guy that truly deserves it even though his stats may not indicate that.

MVC is quality bball

and as always, are in town for Arch Madness, i passed the Witchy st bus on interstate 70,

At the Scott, they have all of the players who are in MVC hall of fame. Some great ones and greatest ever to play sports, have played in MVC.

Best pitcher ever, went to Creighton, was a baseball and basketball legend at creighton, and was also a Globe TRotter. Bob"muther fuckin"Gibson. He put fear in batters. He would of nailed Bonds in his ear hole till he took off the armor.

6.1 assists a game and I think probably around 1-2 steals although I'm not sure on the steals stat (too lazy to look it up!).

Adelpiero,

Is opening day at The K sold out yet? I know single game tickets for the regular season go on sale Saturday, but not sure if that includes Opening Day. I'm sure I can find a ticket on eBay, but I'd rather get from the Royals.com if possible.

My bad, I thought you were a Royals fan. You Cardinals fans are about to learn what it's been like to be a Royals fan the last decade or so. In the worst division in baseball, Cardinals could lose 100 games. I always hear what great fans they have in St. Louis, but let's see what happens when their patience is tested and see how much attendance drops the next few years because it's going to be a long time before the Cardinals are back in contention. I would set the over/under at 200 total losses for the next 2 years for St. Louis. That's really gotta suck for Cardinal fans knowing KC is on the upswing and so are the Cubs. I'm sure in 4-5 years, the shoe will be back on the other foot, but not before then.

any 1 bid conference tourney non-upset is good for the Cuse!

i like the MVC. it's a fun league to watch. i feel the same way about the old C-USA, fun league to watch. Oklahoma was in the original Missouri Valley or at least an early incarnation. lotta history in the MVC.

Sure you can, if you're willing to get up early and stand in line at the K freezing your ass off. Not sure how many they had for sale, but they were gone in 30 minutes.

P'Allen Stinnett is a jerkoff though. He's a typical Wayne Morgan recruit. He went to ISU then transferred when Morgan got booted. He has a lot of off the court problems. No surprise to see him get T'd up yesterday in frustration over the refs calling an obvious foul on him. But he can play.

I think Drake will take a big step back next year. Drake fans should be satified with the NIT next year. They played out of their minds, but they have some major losses. Korver, Emenecker are gone and I believe Leonard Houston is a senior as well (or is he a Junior? I forget). Josh Young is back and he's as good as anyone in the MVC. I am not sure how Oklahoma and Oklahoma State overlooked him. He's got athleticism and great shooting ability and showcased that his freshman year.

I expect Drake to be something like 11-7 in the Valley next year and 20-10 overall and a trip to the NIT. Even after the great year they're having this year, that's still a damn good accomplishment for a school like Drake to make the NIT. And after next year I expect to see Keno bolt outta town for a Big-10 program like Penn State that certainly will be open because Ed DeChellis sucks balls and the PSU AD has got to eventually figure that out (although Bob Bowlsby never found out Steve Alford sucked, so you never know with these AD's).

Woohoo....I got me a pair on eBay! $199 for the pair, which is probably less than I'd pay at the stadium. If I lived in KC I woulda gotten partial season tickets instead because they include opening day. But since I live 3 hours away I can't have the games I attend be set. I usually decide that morning or the day before if I'm gonna go. Besides, I prefer buying Hy-Vee view level tickets and sitting in the lower level! There's almost always open seats and the ushers don't pay attention.

Yeah, last year's home opener was awesome. For some reason that's the most impressive the Royals looked all year! I've only been to Opening Day twice (last year and that great 2004 game). Pretty pathetic that the best game of the year I go to is Opening Day! They pretty much lose every other game I go to. In fact, no joke here, I went over 2 years without seeing a Royals victory from 2004-2006. In 2004 I went to Opening Day and they won, then saw them win that following weekend in extras against Cleveland I believe and then didn't see them win again until sometime in the 2006 season. I'm not sure of the exact number of consecutive losses I saw but it was probably between 23-25. It got to a point where I thought I was cursed. I almost thought about rooting for the opposing team as a way to reverse the curse. If the powers that be hate me so much then certainly they wouldn't allow the team I'm rooting for to win and so the Royals would have won every game I attended. But then I figured they'd see through my act.

Last year their record improved in games I attended. If I recall correctly it was something like 6-7 or 7-8.....somewhere in there.

I'm calling my shot right now.....

-81-81! Mark it down! That's 15 games ahead of that overrated piece of shit Tony LaRussa's Cardinals. "A,B,C,D,X,Y,X, uhh....Z,X,Q!!!"

-ProZack contends for the Cy Young after posting a 18-7 record with a 2.90 ERA and then claims he's bored and hasn't ever heard of the Cy Young award. Then demands Trey Hillman move him to shortstop in 2009 so he can play everyday as opposed to sitting in the dugout talking to his imaginative friends while eating Chipotle!

-Billy and Alex both hit .300 or better and combine for 50 HR's and 210 RBI's.

-Billy's first base experiment is short lived as he proves to be more inept in the field than Ken Harvey and Mike Sweeney combined!

-Angel Berroa will still suck and I will make a point to get to an I-Cubs game when Omaha comes to Des Moines so I can boo that formerly roided up worthless pile of dog crap and laugh my ass off that he'll never make it back to the bigs without the Juice.

-Soria goes 40/44 in save opportunities

-Mark Teahen gets his power back thanks to a "B-12 shot" and hits 19 HR's.

-Royals finish 3rd in the AL Central behind Cleveland and Detroit.

-Meche and Bannister combine to go 28-19 with a 3.75 ERA.

-Mike Moustakas will make his Major League debut in September.

-Grudzielanek will be traded at the trade deadline to a contending NL team (Cubs)

-Dayton will trade David DeJesus after the season looking for a true leadoff hitter, knowing that will be the one thing the Royals will need to contend in 2009. Joey Gathright is not going to cut it as a full-time player in the bigs.
