The only change I'm making in my earlier predictions is putting Seattle over the Angels in the West. The injury situation with Escobar has gotten worse with word of him likely being out for the year. This definitely gives the edge now the Mariners who boast a superior 1-2 over the Angels. I'll also change my manager of the year pick to John McLaren...however if the Angels do win the West with a weakened rotation, Scioscia would definitely deserve that honor.
I'm really beginning to worry about the Tigers with their bullpen issues with opening day just 26 hours away. This will be a very challenging start to the season with Rodney momentarily down and Zumaya out probably until the All-Star break. They have 28 of their first 39 games against what I call the "Big 8" of the AL...the Red Sox, Yankees, Blue Jays, Indians, White Sox, Angels, Mariners along with the Tigers...the teams I consider playoff-caliber teams.
We could know a lot of this team after May 11. If that team is at or near the top of the division or AL standings after that brutal stretch...I see good days ahead for them. The Indians start with 25 games against the "Big 8" through May 12...doesn't appear to be an easy start for them either but they go into this season with fewer question marks.
