25th straight win for Davidson...great to see at least one sleeper/cinderella still in it this late. We'll see what happens with Villanova but I don't consider a low seed from a big conference a surprise. The Wildcats aren't a big team by any means but they made the bigger team just look slow and lost. Lots of motion on the offensive end resulting great looks at the basket and at the other end, the Badgers would two or three shots at the hoop and end up with an empty trip.
As for Curry...this cat looks like Reggie Miller with court vision. He's not just a shooter...he can pass, drive the basket and finish as well as get to the glass on the defensive end. Whoever has to check him in the regional finals better have some stamina because they guy runs around more than Rip Hamilton.

I was thinking the same thing about Wisconsin but they forgot to come out for the second half...which happens to be Curry's best half. Kansas is a more complete team than Wisconsin and I'd expect a better performance from them for the entire 40 minutes. Villanova is constructed similar to Davidson...a three guard attack with a smaller front line. Kansas plays three guards exclusively but rotate in a bigger body like Kahn.
Elmore talked about it last night...can the Wildcats get contributions out of guys not named Curry? Lovedale and Richards scored in double figures yesterday but they'll probably need another guy like Sander or Meno and Barr off the bench to contribute more. I don't really think Curry will be completely erased but you have to wonder if he's going to be able to carry this team one more time and make it San Antonio. Kansas oughta waste a couple fouls and put Curry on his wallet a couple times to make him less comfortable out there.
In Davidson's three games this regular season against tournament teams...North Carolina, Duke and UCLA (all losses)...Curry scored 24, 20 and 15 points respectively was a combined 9 of 29 from three.

KU is a team that has fouls to give and can run some different guys around the perimeter with Curry. versatility and depth across the lineup are really a strength.

The biggest advantage Kansas has going for them vs. Curry is that they have three very solid defenders they can throw at him. Somebody fresh will always be matched up on Curry and that will help. Rush, Chalmers and Robinson will all take turns checking Curry...all are very, very good defenders. It will be interesting to see.
Davidson is the last team Kansas wanted to see at this point. A true cinderella with nothing to lose and just playing for fun.
That said, KU is too strong, too deep, and just too athletic. Brandon Rush is turning into one helluva' player. You get the feeling he could score as many as he wanted, but with all the other weapons surrounding, just goes with the flow.
Kinda' cool for us homers to see two Big XII teams still standing.
Major props to Curry and the Davidson team. They shot lights out. Not sure why the Badgers didn’t push it inside a bit more, but that may have been due to losing the point guard in the first half. I think Flowers’ having to take on point duties didn’t really help him on the defensive end either. But Davidson was the better team on Friday.
Nonetheless, this was a great year for Bucky. They were expected to be closer to the middle of the pack than being both regular season and tournament champs. Definitely a “whole is greater than the sum of its parts” team.
Are we finally going to see all four #1 seeds in the Final Four? Memphis laid waste to MSU and Texas in the Houston in regional...can Kansas turn the trick in Motown? It just adds a little more juice to this last regional final of the weekend.

They were very good indeed...I thought Davidson was sunk after Lovedale fouled out with Kaun dominating like he was. Kansas went to the smaller lineup and it allowed Davidson to hang around until that last possession. That one open miss by Curry off the fast break was a killer.
The Wildcats had the luxury to take any shot on the floor given it was only a two point deficit. Curry was able to drive to the basket early on with his trademark dribble behind the back before move into the lane. The Jayhawks had a smaller lineup with the exception of Arthur being the biggest guy on the floor if I'm not mistaken. They had a lineup more suited to defend the perimeter shot so that's why they could look to go to Curry to dribble drive and get a closer shot without having to venture amongst taller defenders like Kaun.
Whatever they had drawn up, it looked very sloppy and disorganized. They had the ball in their best player's hands but they ended up with a poor look at the basket for that final shot. It was just ugly execution by a team that had shown during the tournament that they could run nice sets in the halfcourt to get excellent looks at the hoop. I really thought having Richards handle the ball and hope to get Curry free off a screen for a two or a three seemed like the best possible move. He might not have not shot all that hot in the second half but I think you'd rather have him take that last shot than Richards. I would've even considered going to Barr on that last look...he was their best perimeter shooter in the second half.

Referencing the SEC tournament the week before, what with the move to Georgia Tech and all, he just about wet himself about how they had to cram everyone into the GT arena.
