Well PSUFAN, I don't think anyone of contemporary import suggested Bin Laden was captured but in the run up to the 04 elections the blogosphere and DU type sites were all busy plotting and speculating. Conservative radio helped - fuel the notion of "An October Surprise".
Everything from finding Saddam's nukes in the Bekaa (sp?) Valley(might have been 2006 election for that), to an announcement of Bin Ladens capture or death (2004 Presidential Election).

Madeline Albright made a comment, she claimed it was "tongue in cheek", that seemed to fuel the rumour and legitimize the notion.
And of course jaded folks world-wide assumed Saddam had been captured long before news of his capture was released.
So while Wolfman's , rightfully earned -- through years of hard work and responsibility, curmudgeony response never really did mention a Dem/Lefty in a posititon to enter the white house, it's not as out of the blue as YOU would think.
I mean, Madeline Albright
WAS a mere 4 places away from being President once. So that's close.
Of course if she was anything like Al Haig, none of this would have happened anyway AND she would have been in charge had anything happened to Clintone.
