4th of July plans

Post by War Wagon »

Most years, we just stay home and BBQ a slab of ribs before blowing off some $100-$150 worth of fireworks up in smoke in the front yard. Nevermind that fireworks are banned in the city limits of KC. That law is enforced about as often as the no standing rule at Chiefs games is going to be. But this year I don't plan on wasting one dime on fireworks. Not that I can't afford it, but I've got better things to spend that cayshe on.

Anyways, this year we've an invite to spend the 4th with some friends on their houseboat on Smithville Lake and I'm all like, "sign us up". They put on a huge public fireworks display every year right by the lake. I did have to twist wifey's arm a bit to get her to agree to it. Her B-day is on July 4th, so she always feels torn by some silly obligation of having her mom up for dinner and whatnot. Fuck that noise, have her up on the 5th or the 6th, we're going to party this year, god damnit.

So, what are the rest of you fine, patriotic folks plans for our nations birthday this year?

As my week is basically six Saturdays and Sunday, nothing special is planned. Not going anywhere with a crowd jsut to see fireworks, but I'm sure a few of my neighbors will provide some to see. Florida law is such that it is legal to purchase them, but not to set them off at home. However it is like many places that no Justice of the Peace will prosecute anyone for having some fun.
Grilled Omaha Steaks ® and some brats along with vast quantities of amber training elixirs will commence soon.
Nothing beats a long summer weekend--enjoy !

I’ll probably be sitting at home drinking microbrews and thinking about the boys who are protecting my freedom in Iraq.

Have fun with that.

I'm gonna head downtown for Comerica Cityfest and eat food, drink beer, and take in the assorted entertainment until Broken Social Scene hits the stage at Motor City Casino for a free show. Then I'll come home, drink more, get a blow joy, and pass out.

Sure, Mgo, go for the cheap laugh at the expense of the men who are keeping you safe from Iraqi terrorists. Why do you hate America?

Hey, we all show our respect in different ways. You prefer to stay at home on a Friday, holiday evening thinking about dudes. And that's fine. I prefer to exercise my freedoms to the max by going out, getting blitzed, listening to some awesome music, taking in the lively night life, and then later getting my schwank mouth-banged. If that isn't patriotic, I don't know what is.

I'll be headed to State College PA to attend my 20th HS reunion, watch fireworks, hike in the fucking woods, and drain beers.

You know, I was just trying to bait Wolfman, but you had to jump in with your all-powerful homosmack. Sheesh, go fishing for the great white whale and wind up with a bowfin in the boat.

4th of July plans, the remix
War Wagon wrote:Most years, we just stay home and pan fry a pack of Steak-ums before blowing off some $4-$5 worth of POP! POP! SNAPPERS! out in my 3 x 5 mat of fresh sod. Nevermind that fireworks are banned within the residential limits of FEMA trailer park communities. That law is enforced about as often as the "don't be an obese, annoying slob" rule is going to be at Chiefs games. But this year I don't plan on wasting one cent on fireworks. I really can't afford it because I've got better things to spend that cayshe on like a pallet-load of oscillating fans.

Anyways, this year we've invited ourselves to spend the 4th with some strangers on their houseboat on Smithville Lake and I'm all like, "sign us up". I had to twist her arm to agree to it because she knows how badly I want to wife swap. I'll probably get stuck with a piece of moss duct taped to a tree bark with rocks for boobs, but right about now that sounds fucking hot. Her B-day is on July 4th, so she always feels torn by some silly obligation to get wasted and leave me for a man with money who doesn't look like he'll get carded to see "Incredible Hulk." Fuck that noise, spread those parachute asscheeks, we're going to party this year, god damnit.

Going to an Uncles

BBQ,swimming, Poker, Fireworks his hoosier neighbors literally spend close to a grand each year on fireworks, so fuck it, i'll chill in the pool, drink some Beamish, and enjoy the hoosiers and their fireworks. This one fucker has a mullet down to his waste(think fatfunker)! PET coming. they are KC transplants, no shocker there. It's very interesting to watch White trash , they are amusing in so many ways.

PS mgo, no Beamish doesn't have rasberry flavored beer, sorry

My boy turned 16 yesterday. He's having a bunch of animals over for a pool party on Saturday, for which I've been drafted to 'que up some tri-tips and brats among other things.

We'll be spending most of the 4th cleaning up the house and yard and making a trip to Costco for food.

Can't complain, unless it rains again all damned day. Forecast is for sunny and 82 degrees tomorrow, so I liketh my chances. It just might make up for the lost day on that god forsaken river last Saturday.

Not to mention, this lake is 10 minutes from my doublewide, so if anything goes not to my liking, just pull up stakes and head home. Didn't have that option last week.

Not sure yet.

Although seeing Canned Heat, The Legendary Shack Shakers, Terry Robb, et al, then watching (by far) the largest fireworks display west of the Mississippi doesn't sound so bad.
