excluding your own team.

best: two years ago i'd say Colorado, but the new threads suck out loud. so, i'll say ATM or Nebraska (both Adidas, btw). though, i'll give ATM the nod since NU had that awful Tron crap in 2002 (?). to their credit they switched back to the classic look. and Callahan's teams always looked pretty sharp even when they weren't playing D.

worst: Oklahoma State.

worst-Northwestern. Purple is gay and the font of the numbering sucks alot.

best-tough call. I'm very attached to the maize n blue. As a traditionalist I want to say PSU. Plain old school football right there. I kinda dig the Minnesota color scheme. The "W" on the wisky helmet blows. Illinois is ok, but they've changed a few times in my memory. I will never forgive Iowa for the feathers (or whatever) they had a few years back. OSU...

. IU, dull and too many changes over the years. I hate Purdue's colors. And Sparty, I don't even own anything green. When they go with the all white with green numbers and letters and they have the "S" on the helmet and not the sparty head their unis meet the old school criteria. But when the sport the shiny green metalic all green uni's they look like shit.

Yep not counting Michigan, PSU's unis are the best.

Texas Tech looks sharp when they have the all black pants, jerseys and the cool TB Bucs like helmets. I have to say the new A&M shit is horrible.....but hey, they aren't as good as us and probably never will be.

worst: Syracuse (the Donovan McNabb-era Cuse unis were sweet...these ones, not so much)

Pac 10
best: USC (tradition, tradition, tradition)
worst: CAL (the urine unis and multiple color schemes don't work for me. Like somebody else said, at least Oregon were trend setters)

SEC
best: Tennessee (lots of great, traditional unis in this conference. I used to hate the rocky top orange, but they sorta grew on me...as much as an SEC team can grow on me)
worst: South Carolina

i'm not sure Colorado ever wore the all blacks in the Hagan heyday. i'll have to check on that. their roadie with the black pants and white jersey was very badass. Sadly, they've gone away from that sometimes (black pants are pretty hot in September) with the Barnett era all-whites* and Hawkins has worn gold pants on the road a few times. which, makes em look like Georgia Tech from a distance to me.

ACC:

b: FSU (hon mention: Virginia. i like UNC's look and logo, but it's a little soft, effete for football).
w: Clemson all purple.

Big 10:

b: Michigan (big fan of PSU, as well)
w: N'Western

SEC:

b: Bama (classic. i like UGA's color scheme but i don't like the Packer logo and i don't like when college teams adopt an NFL copy--'sup Iowa=Steelers, Kansas did the Giants a few times, KSU=Cowboys, etc. a lot of tight duds in the SEC though)
w: Kentucky (not really anything to get excited about here).

Pac 10:

b: USC or UCLA
w: Oregon State (though Stanford has taken a big step back with the black trim, IMO).

Big East:

b: Rutgers, i guess (clean, simple)
w: new Cuse retina scorchers. UCONN could use an update now that they are in a real conference.

* there's some "x" factor about the all whites. it didn't really work for CU. looked like they were wearing pajamas or something. some teams it works great. PSU, Bama, OU, Texas really frickin sharp....for instance. but, it looked goofy for CU. other than that, the Barnett era threads were very nice IMO.

i got confirmation from two sources that, yes, CU wore the all-blacks under McCartney. so, i was wrong.

Best - Pitt. This is provided they do not break out the gold on gold combination they wore a couple of seasons ago against Louisville. They wore gold on blue during a road game against Rutgers last season and it was pretty sweet looking.

Worst - Syracuse. Flat out awful.

CUSA Best: I would have said SMU before they went back to the Pony Express look for this season. Their Blue helmets with the red pony and red jerseys with either red or blue pants were sharp. Now they are going back to more of the white uniform of their past cheating was and so the torch is passed to Tulane. Their all green look is sharp, plus the most striking feature is the name of the school above the numbers which is as it should be.

Worst: Tie between Tulsa and UCF. Blue, Gold, Yellow and Red are too busy on the Tulsa uniform. Not a fan of black on uniforms either so UCF gets the tie.

Note: The current RICE unis are horrible. A number of us have written the AD about going back to the uniform of a few years ago. Think Philly Eagles helmet in blue, solid blue with silver for home games, and solid white with blue for road games. The current crap trimmed in Yellow makes me sick. That along with the stripe from the arm pit down the leg to the knee needs to go tomorrow.

BIG XII Best: By far is Texas. Look at the love PSU is getting for their classic look. The Texas uniform is damn near the same thing. All white on the road with the block numbers and the school name across the chest. White helmets with horns as compared to the blue PSU stripe. At home the only difference like PSU is the jersey is the solid color.

Worst: By far is OK State. They look ready to direct cars on the side of the road around a construction crew. Way to much saftey orange. That and the fact the uniform changes to keep up with Oregon.

Large bold writing on the front of the jersey looks too basketball to me, Im not even fond of writing on the back. A small logo on the front looks good but not much more

Picking the Big East first, since ND is sorta kinda a Big East member:

Best: Pitt (although I wish they'd go back to the script "Pitt" helmet logo, and seconding Mucho's disclaimer about the all-gold unis.)

Best: Florida State (but should wear gold pants all the time.)
Worst: Clemson (any combination except orange-and-white or purple-and-white). Honorable mention: Virginia Tech (maroon and orange just doesn't go well together).

Worst: Penn State (I know I'm in the minority on this one, but their unis are just too boring.)

Best: USC (I might be tempted to change my vote to Washington if they went back to gold pants.)

Best: I'll take a split here -- Georgia for home unis, Florida for road unis.

I dont recall any westcoast teams going to that gay ass one sleeve one coor, the other another scheme like the Gaytors were rocking, Va Tech is the only other team i remember for sure using that horrible look. Its like Richard Simmons shorts on a football jersey
