He didn't.

These comments were made 2 weeks ago... and this reporter got lazy and decided to take the day off and report this now.

The comments were made when some reporters asked him if it bothered him that little kid's were telling him he sucks, etc.

He just answered the question honestly.

Being that he's from "Northern California" I'm sure he's not used to the "white trash" that prevails in the midwest and Green Bay, where parents tell their kids to say shit like this.

I think he's doing rather well.... being that he's been stuck in that shithole for as long as he has.

LMAO....it really doesn't matter WHEN he said it. The fact that he DID say it speaks to his mental incapacity to handle the pressure of following in the footsteps of arguably the greatest QB in that franchise's history. Good luck with it, Aaron Leaf.

Another brilliant insight about "our kind" here in the good ol' Midwest. As a kid, I can remember sitting around the dinner table and Ma and Pa would teach me how to heckle NFL quarterbacks. I'd go to Lions camp and I'd scream at Eric Hipple or Bob Gagliano until they started to cry. Good times...

Nothing like taking the actions of a single group of people and painting an entire region that way...very progressive thinking there, NoCal. What's it like living in a bubble? And you wonder why we don't like you...

LMAO!! It doesn't MATTER if he was the best or even the third best. The FACT is that he was pretty good.

Sin,

OK, so the FACT that Favre owns almost every significant passing record means nothing, right?

I must admit, I never saw Starr play… you want to talk just titles then I guess Dilfer was a better QB than Marino. Starr averaged 125 yds passing per game over his "legendary" career. His main QB duties consisted of putting his hands under center and then giving the ball to someone else to run with. Much like Dilfer, it appears he was usually asked 'not to lose' the game as opposed to 'winning it.' Favre went to 9 Pro Bowls, was a 3 time 1st team All Pro, and won 3 straight MVPs. Starr was the QB on one of the most dominating dynasties in the history of football. Doesn't mean he was the best QB in franchise history. He just happened to be under center at the time during Lombardi's run. Favre was asked to win the games for his teams, and admittedly, lost some memorable games in spectactularly flameout fashion. However, I think he won a lot more games than he lost. The difference between Favre and Starr is... Green Bay would have been nothing without Favre over the last 15 years. Dilfer, I mean... Starr? Uhm yeah... they still would have won all those titles without him.

Some people insist on measuring a players credentials based largely on how many championships they've won, which is fucking ignorant.

Yep.

There are plenty of great QBs who never won a ring. I guess my top 5 to never have one the big game is:

1) Dan Marino
2) Fran Tarkenton
3) Warren Moon
4) Randall Cunningham
5) Dan Fouts

Football is a 'team' sport.

Quarterback is a leadership role on said 'team' sport.... and the most important on the team.

This isn't baseball... where stats seem to be the only important thing.

Much to the chagrin of most stat nerds and Packer fans.

Who would you rather have in the leadership role in the 4th quarter of an important game.... the "hillbilly", or....

It’s a vastly different game today than it was in the 1960’s, so Favre is certainly going to win any statistical comparison. But I still see Starr as the greatest Green Bay QB. And it’s not just based on his winning 7 titles with what was an exceptionally good team. Starr was first and foremost a leader.

Even with a conservative offensive scheme, he led the league in passing three times, for many years held the record for consecutive passes without interception (295), and was MVP of both Super Bowls he played in. Favre was a great quarterback, but to me his post-season results the past 10 seasons take him down a notch. He may have single-handedly cost the Packers two more Super Bowl trips.

The Patriots currently share the record of nine straight playoff victories with Vince Lombardi’s Packers, who won all nine postseason games they played from 1961 to 1967.

Why, in the entire history of the NFL, were these two teams the only ones able to reel off nine straight wins against tough postseason competition?

Great coaching? Of course

Tough defenses? Certainly.

Distinct home-field advantage? No doubt.

But the secret – the Stat that Lords Over All Others – is that the quarterbacks of these two teams simply did not throw interceptions in the playoffs.

Good job, Goober.

It's good to see a Packer fan/NFL fan that can see the forest in spite of the trees.

If I have a choice between Starr and the "hillbilly" when the game's on the line..... it's no contest.

Like I said previously, overall stats are for nerds.

We've seen how well throwing a shitload of TD's have gone for Tarkenton, Marino, and the "hillbilly".....

...1 Super Bowl win.

If you really want to look at stats that matter (kinda).... "the hillbilly" isn't even in the top ten.

Too bad we're comparing Favre and Starr… not Favre and the QB widely regarded as the best to ever play at his position.

Anywho. My impression of Starr (doing his usual nothing besides getting a clean snap) "leading" his team. It's 3rd and long and here's Starr calling the play. "Alright men, we need 15 yards and you're going to get it for me. Kramer, Gregg… open a huge hole, Taylor, block anyone who tries to fill, and I'll give it Pitts or Hornung and one you fuckers better make it. On 3, on 3.. break."

Sounds good to me...

... I think we all know what would happen if "the hillbilly" had a 3rd and 15 when it counted.

This is the difference between great qb and a stat leader.

We are.... but not for the reasons you think.

You see.... the 'term' "hillbilly" originated as a way to describe you freaks in Michigan.

I was going to let this fact pass when all you losers keep bringing it up
.... but since we have a "hillbilly" in our presence....

I thought I would bust it out.... and let you losers know why "m2 is the truth" and is smarter than you.

Strangely enough, early editions of Websters Dictionary include a definition of hillbilly as "a Michigan Farmer."

...and to answer your question

Yes, Mississippi has hills.

Don't EVER question "the truth"

Funny, in that entire description I see a lot of states mentioned...not a single reference to Mississippi.
but is generally not used to refer to rural people in non-mountainous areas.

You "hillbillies" have mountains in 'Michigan' ???

You can read the whole article and try to comprehend it, or I can do it for you.... which I can see will be the case
theoretically hillbillies are merely isolated from the dominant culture.

The "hillbilly" ain't too bright.

Takenton and Marino are losers when it mattered.

I don't give a shit who had the most home runs or stolen bases during a season.

This is PRO FOOTBALL... and the only thing that matters, are Super Bowl Rings.

When it mattered, the Ravens' and Giants' defenses won those games, NOT Dilfer or Manning. Period.

I just DID dispute it, and last time I checked Tarkenton and Marino were in the HoF....Dilfer and E. Manning will NEVER be.

Get it?

Got it?

Good. Glad we both agree. :hfal:
