2008 Surprises?
2008 Surprises?
In the NFC, I see the Eagles as a surprise UP team -- from 8-8 last year to NFC East Champs in '08.
Surprise down, Green Bay -- from 13-3 to 7-9 in '08.
Sucks to be you, 2.
Reggie Bush as an NFC surprise UP playah.
Terrific year, he'll have.
In the AFC, I see a few surprise UP teams -- Buffalo, Cincy and Oakland all winning their divisions.
Houston as a wildcard is a mild surprise.
Surprise DOWN -- Patsies (16-0 to 9-7), San Diego (division winners to 8-8), and Pittsburgh (division winners to 7-9).
Raiduh Derrick Burgess as surprise UP playah in the AFC.
Near (or at) the top of the heap in sacks.
Yours?

Try as I would like, it is hard to argue against your Pittsburgh prediction. What's sad is that 7-9 just might win the AFC North.
BTW: Your Cincy prediction is crazy. Ocho is toast. It's the only possible reason they brought a cancer like Chris Henry back to the fold. And Rudi Johnson is going to limp through this year before calling it quits. He's a shell of himself.

Re: 2008 Surprises?
I definitely don't see the Pats going after a perfect season...the potential nagging ankle injury for Brady should scare anyone off that prediction. I don't think they're a 9-7 team though like tart is claiming...that's way too far of a drop. The only way that happens is if Brady has to miss any extended period of time due to injury. If he plays all 16 games, they're 12 or 13 win team again. Their corners could be an area of concern but the addition of Lynch gives them another savvy hard-nosed vet at safety. That team is too experienced and well-coached to drop off the table.
It's probably not a huge risk to make this prediction but I don't see the Giants making the playoffs...especially coming off the heels of Umenyiora going down and the remote chance that Strahan returns to fill that hole. The key will be Tuck and Kiawanuka stepping up. Losing a key defensive player and they play in the most balanced division in football...it'll be tough to squeeze out a 9 win season and get in the playoffs. I look at last season for them as just having everything go just right and they caught fire at the right time. I think they go .500 or 7-9...not a huge drop-off but not good enough for one of the two wild card spots.
For homer picks...I see the Lions passing game finally erupting. Both Johnson and Williams will have 1200+ yards receiving and 10 TDs each. Kitna won't be a Pro Bowler but he'll have a solid year passing and Kevin Smith should go for 1000+ yards in his rookie year on the ground. The ground game should be a little better than last year but it's no better than 3rd best in the division behind Minnesota and Green Bay. I still don't see the defense amounting to much...it won't be the worst in the league again but it won't be any better than the bottom third...somewhere in the 20th-25th range overall. It's no better than a 6 win team but they'll at least some signs of improvement from last year. That 6-2 start last year was a product of the opposition shooting themselves in the foot and the schedule was easy compared to the final 8 games. This is probably an easier schedule than last year but they're just not up to the level of Washington, Philadelphia, Tampa Bay or Minnesota.

The idiots are the people who pencil in last year's division winners to win again this year.mvscal wrote:You're an idiot, but that really isn't a surprise.poptart wrote:In the AFC, I see a few surprise UP teams -- Buffalo, Cincy and Oakland all winning their divisions.
In 2006, GB was 8-8 -- in 2007 they were 13-3 and division champs
In 2006, Tampa Bay was 4-12 -- in 2007 they were 9-7 and division champs
in 2006, Dallas was 8-8 -- in 2007 they were 13-3 and division champs
In 2006, Pittsburgh was 8-8 -- in 2007 they were 10-6 and division champs
And where the hell are your predictions, you cowardly little asshead?
Oh, and 'The Chargers have everything lining up for them this year' doesn't count.
It's not only comically ignorant, it's ass-fucking-WEAK.
You hit your high water mark with Marty at 14-2 in '06.
Norv took you down to 11-5 last year.
He'll have you taking it up the shitpipe this year, fuckbutt.

You're only worried about Indy and a healthy Green Bay. Your takes are hilarious. So, you have a point.ucantdoitdoggieSTyle2 wrote:trev wrote:Predictions are stupid.

Re: 2008 Surprises?
So… in your alchohol induced coma, what type of BODE does the Patriots beating the shit out of SD twice last year entitle you to? Here's my prediction for the 2008 season: You will continue gravy-training the NFC and any other team actually capable of beating NE. And just as an FYI -- I believe you have the mantra on which this board was long ago founded slightly off-kilter. It is categorically not, "Have a drink, just got fucked." You're welcome.

Re: 2008 Surprises?
While I don't see either the Jets or Buffalo challenging NE (14-2) for the division, I wouldn't be surprised if both win 9-10 games. Mangini finally has 'his type' of people on defense (not to mention Favre), and Buffalo, if they can get anything out of the QB position, will be very tough as well. The AFC Least looks to be a very stout division this year. Miami may even win a whole 4 games themselves. In other news... I look for KC or Oak to challenge Tampa's perfect 1976 season. It's a shame these two pathetic franchises must play each other, because someone has to actually win those debacles. Unless, of course, they both go 0-14-2. Hmmmm.....mvscal wrote:Buffalo isn't bad and they have a weak schedule, but New England is still better and has an even weaker schedule.
Surprise teams? Jets are looking at 10-6 and a wildcard. Niners will find their offense and Nolan will keep his job.

It's always fun when dickwipes like PISS walk into a prediction thread and start talking shit ... without making any predictions of their own.
Stick around and make some calls, PISS, or stfu, 'cuz right about now you look like a total fool.
