Tampa Bay at New Orleans (-3)
Dallas (-5.5) at Cleveland
Kansas City (+15.5) at New England

While the young Chiefs will likely struggle this season on offense, I think they will take another step forward on the other side of the ball and start frustrating fans much in the same manner they did in the 90s.

I certainly don't see them winning this game, mind you, but a lot can happen in a first game ... good and bad, and 16 points is a lot for Vegas. I'll go the other way here.

Tough game to call.

I find myself making arguments on both sides of the coin, Rumps. In the end, I think I'll go with Pittsburgh to cover, though.

There's a lot of faith in your boys. If this game were in Houston, you might have a chance. But in the Blast Furnace there will be no mercy shown. The Texans still can't run the ball, which means their offense will be limited and one dimensional.

Steelers 32
Texans 10

For my other two picks, I like the Pats to cover the 15.5 spread against the worst team in football and I like Dallas to stomp a 6 point or greater mudhole in the Mistakes by the Lake.

Best bet for week 1 is that Ahman Green will not finish the first half against the Steelers.

Any spread over 13 is pretty much unheard of in an NFL game. KC Star showed the game off the ML today. Must be some doubt about Brady still and Bellicheat is never one to tip his hand.

Wags,

Doing good. Changed jobs. Got a lot more responsibility and travel a bit more than usual. Got out of the "rhythm" of coming in here, and since things slowed down a bit, I remembered this place, and couldnt remember my freaking password. Well, I'm only coming back in as MSNECK, so it took me awhile..lol.

Anyway, I'm back in the house.

honestly, I can't understand how Oakland isn't favored by more than 3

McFadden will probably run for like 300+ yards, and Jamarcus will likely throw for another 300+

I've set my expectations for this season exceptionally low hoping I won't be disappointed

I think the raydud's are a good bet here

+3 means the Raiders are a 3 point dog. Tell me you knew?

PSU fan can tighten you up with the best places to hang. Me, I'm just a tourist. Now if you get sent up to Rochester, give me a shout.

welcome back Neck.

I was just in Pitt last night, can't recommend a bar or restaurant - just ate in the hotel last night and had a couple drinks w/ PSU

I will give you some advice on driving - coming infrom the airport to downtown took a almost 90 minutes on 60 South then 679 into the city.
There was miles of closed road, and only saw two spots where they were working on spots maybe 3 yards long.

Also, if you go downtown and are using a GPS - the GPS is totally fucking worthless.
I only found the hotel thanks to lucking out and looking up at the right time.

The Pitt airport doesn't suck much. They have free wifi that works, and a real sense of history.

Here's a fine example of what's historically important to the residents of western PA:

To be fair, they also had a T-rex downstairs:

I won't say this very often this season but the Lions are a very good bet this week. It's Ryan's first start and the Falcons have a short pair of corners to go against the much larger Williams and Johnson. It's also Johnson's return to his hometown and I bet he'd like to put on a show. I think Turner and Norwood could put up some yards on the ground against the Lions but if they're playing from behind most of the game, it'll rest on Ryan to throw to get them back in the game. The strength of the Lions defense is probably with their veteran secondary. I'll also be curious to see how Rudi Johnson does in his debut with the Lions...he'll split carries with Kevin Smith.

You nailed the Giants pick but that was pretty much a gimme and I do agree that the Raiders will surprise the Broncos.

Ha! Howdy Scott. Yea, I saw that in the Pitt airport. I can also add that apparently the people in Pitt area dont believe in road signs to aid the tourist\business travelers. I'd follow like Highway 22 (Penn Hwy) signs and bloop...they'd disappear. Anyway I went to State College and went to Quaker Steak wings place, not bad. On the way back from Du Bois and heading towards Punxsatawney, within the space of 5 miles I ran across: a Bigfoot tracking expedition gearing up to go out..a meeting of about 100 Quaker women beside the highway, and a highway sign stating that I was in a high DUI crash zone. COuld they all be related?
