How else do you explain a home opener only saved by a 24 hour blackout extension and a last second buy of tickets by the new Fox affiliate in town? Here's what PFT had to say about it.
The Chargers avoided having their regular-season opener blacked out in San Diego when the brand-new, local FOX affiliate bought the balance of the unsold tickets.
The team announced the development today.
Typically, CBS will televise Chargers games. But when they host an NFC team, FOX has the game.
“Charger fans all around San Diego are excited to see this new season begin. Now every fan not attending the game will be able to see it on Fox 5 San Diego”, said Ray Schonbak, Fox 5 San Diego vice president and general manager. ”Fox 5 San Diego is the new home for the ‘NFL on Fox’ and we are thrilled to kick off the season and showcase the Chargers’ home opener this Sunday. It’s important that all fans be able to enjoy this game. Go Chargers!”
Yeah, go Chargers! They’re an elite NFL team, and they can’t even sell out their own stadium. Go Chargers, indeed. To another city.
Your actually trying to defend this somehow MV ?? It's the home opener for fucks sake, if this was Atl or Mia you maybe get a pass, but aren't your boys *supposed* to be contenders?
...decent ticket not in nosebleed...$78.00
...parking.................................$20.00
...gas cost driving to game...........$60.00 (round trip from L.A. 310 mi.)
...tailgate chow and brew.............$30.00
watching it on HD big screen at the
cigar lounge.................................$20.00 for a stick or two
not fighting traffic on the way home...priceless
btw...I'd rather be at the game! but the alternative ain't bad...

So ... a comment on trolling and a list of expenses is all we get from Charger camp?
Hmmm.
All smack aside, I have to agree with Bri here. The fact a supposed Super Bowl contender has to be bailed out in the season opener brings up some interesting questions.

Wow.
Welcome to L.A.'s finest suburb. Trust me, as soon as the Dolts lose two in a row, they'll be lucky to get the stadium 2/3 full.

Well, they do have long walks on the beach to take and what such. Who's got the time or inclination to attend the season opener of an expected AFC West champ?
The 'Los Angeles Chargers' has a nice ring to it, does it not?

The prissy biotches would be a better fit in Anaheim.
Or maybe metrosexual Portland.

Will you go AWOL this season? How long will you be here? Your answer will depend on me bothering to address you question.
Diogenes hates San Diego so much I'm surprised he hasn't moved to Walsilla Alaska yet to try and get close to his fantasy lover. You can be sure LoCal will be a LOT better off once this loser is gone and forgotten.

Bri?
Didn't think so...
Really great fans, all of you, for sure.

My team's home opener is next week and I will be present. 20 year season ticket holder so yeah, I am a "really great fan".
Nothing but props to the Panthers for that one. Pretty entertaining comeback, errrrr until the last play. I thought for sure the timeout not spent before that would cost them. Twas not to be!

That couldn't have been easy ... tough to lose a game like that.

That looked painful, Chargerfan.
Sincere condolences.

Yeah, well I would have been there yesterday if it weren't for a 50 mile one way drive, unaffordable ticket prices, a shitty venue and the fact that I have a lot of better things to do with my time and money.
The Chargers would sell out every game if they offered a better product at a better price. It's called supply and demand, dipshit. Don't blame the fans, blame the management.
So... ticket prices are outrageously high because the team is so shitty that fans won't buy tickets?

The NFL blackout is stupid. They show practically all the Padre games on TV and it has generated more interest and attendance at the games since they started doing so.

There's a reason that bad things/bizzare things/lucky things happen again Norv Turner coached teams. That was a CLASSIC Norv loss- a game the Chargers had no business losing, but they do. The Chargers, on paper, are a Super Bowl team this year. Since Norv upped the expectations, that sets up a COLOSSAL disappointment. I've been here before, Charger fan has not. Warning- he is going to rip your heart clean out of your ass this year.
...the Bolt's played like dog sh!t the first half then came roaring back to take a short-lived lead. The "prevent" defense worked again...prevented a win. No pressure on Jake on the last drive...4 guys rushing, 7 blocking. Hell, all's we had to do was cover 2 freeking guys...he didn't throw to anyone else all day. Horsebleep defense on the last drive..how do you let someone get behind you on the last play of the game? !##$$&*_)_^&&&$#$! yes, it was a freekin hard loss!

A better product? 3 AFC West titles in 4 years? And you want a better product? Oh sure, you’ve come to expect it, based on your rich tradition.

We were there. Think the news of the extension distracted the players to such a point they never really got going?
Gotta say I was pretty shocked we needed the extension.
If you'd asked me for tix last Wednesday I wouldn't have even considered going to the Charger's website. Just assumed it was sold out.
