Public Schools-Outstanding!

Post by Trampis »

Step son just started 9th grade at the local Highschool, same school I went to 20 some years ago. Annnnd what is he learning in English 1-2? How to swear properly! Teach says you just have to spress yerself in a natural way and since we all use cuss words ..., specifically "what the hell!". Thats her biggie. And if you have to use stronger language then its "what the f***!" Yea asterisks. Cant use the uck but *** are cool. Oh light through yonder window, what the f***!

That and because he's in the regular math(algebra) he doesnt get a math book. My genius nephew in the same grade in the honors class gets an actual book but because my step son is in retard math he isnt even allowed a f****ing book? How the hell am I supposed to go over his lessons with him? God damn football team gets new stuff every year but to hell with books?

And... they have a program for the kids to enroll in the local Community College early, while they are still in Highschool to earn college credits,... but you have to pass a test with a 90% or better to get into the program...UNLESSS YOUR A MEXICAN! Then a 75% is good enough! What!?!?! Wouldnt you be embarrised if you were a Mexican and they said this in front of everyone? There must be 75% type Mexicans running all these banks that are screwed up, because the Gov keeps helping them.

Yea, we need more money for "education".

Clearly your own public school education was a little patchy.

e, funny you should mention that - my son had the same issue last night. He didn't understand what he was supposed to do for his estimation assignment - which was simply to estimate something. He was thrown by the idea that there was "nothing to answer", as he put it.

For the record, though...he's in a private school.

Match the Estimates

- $50,000 to $60,000

- half

- one

- tremors are felt as far east as Roanoke Virginia

- 72%

- zero

- daily

- every other

* number of people praying for Quanderrious
* pages missing from Trampis' dictionary
* number of vp candidates who have ever been able to see a foreign country from their backyard
* amount of jack won annually by PISC betting on sporting events
* percentage of U.S. public high school graduates who read at 4th grade slant level
* how often LTS TARD gets fucked over by Jews
* when KC Paul does jumping jacks
* number of posters who are dumber than e's daughter

i told my daughter that if she's given numbers with which to work, do the math and hand it in. if the teacher has a problem with that or tries counting her answer incorrect because it's correct, she can talk to me about it. you figure out how to estimate after you've mastered getting the right answer.

fucking estimate? really?
My son just started fifth grade as well. His homework the other night was rounding to various places. Sounds to me like your daughter is studying the same thing. So the right fuking answer in this case IS estimating to the nearest tenth, hundredth, etc.

So STFU and explain to her what rounding is.

Rounding is not in any way the same as estimating. Good God, don’t even think about helping your son with his homework. Might give the little tardlet a fighting chance.

Just go ahead now and plan for tutor's and maybe private help lessons...because that is exactly what happened to 2 of my kids. All public schools are doing a poor job of preparing kids at the upper elementary and middle school level, for high school math, and college level course work is just way out of their reach for the masses..

Because your kids in the fifth and sixth grades are going fall flat on their face when it comes to high school math, and go ahead and plan on that fifth year of college, since they will have remedial math and English the first year of college.

My daughter struggled in placement math and English testing, and had to take a year of remedial math and English to place properly at the 4 year level. That put that 5th year of college on her..It took her the first 2 years at the 4 year school to get comfortable with the whole college process.

Thank NCLB and teaching to the test for that.

Sure, but anybody could come up with the right answers by looking them up on Google, like you did.

Oh, OK. My problem was that I estimated his age at 14, then rounded it to 10.

Perfectly understandable. That being the case, you get an "A."

Actually you can thank inferior genes for that.

Don't blame the public school system for the fact that your kids are drooling mongoloid idiots.

I went through this same bullshit with my daughter 2 years ago. That is exactly how we approached it, do the actual problem correctly before you start approximating. I had a meeting with the teacher and basically told her that what she was teaching was mental masturbation and that she was wasting her time, the kids time, and all the parents time that were helping their kids. I also let her know that my daughter was going to be doing the actual problems and master basic arithmetic before starting this estimating bullshit. She tried to tell me it was part of the curriculum, to which I asked her if she wondered why there are some many kids that can't do basic algebra by the time the reached high school.

OK. Estimating is not the exact same thing as rounding. Rounding can, however be used in making estimates. So, there is a relation.
